Graham try a set of Ferrodo DS2500 pads on the rear, I prefered them all round to the Pagid blues on the fronts (old Scoobysport Brembo 4 pot kit) and Pagid FR's on the rear

I bet all the fast/road spec pads are all the same between them.
Had 2500 in my old 911 to make it stop and they didn't. Carbon metallic ones did but the fronts locked all the time.
It now has ATE stock pads which are great!
And they are £28 per axle set!!

My 911 is the very cheapest car in the Family fleet.

Know anything about dccd install Tim?

Any chance of posting a couple of pics of your cage Graham? Looking into one for mine but the options are endless. Getting a bolt in just incase the car gets sold at somepoint and its a lot less work/hassle for fitting.

All brakes and susp. done now. Just need to put some 5.1 into the brakes, re-torque everything and take it for a drive to see if anything falls off. All that seemed easy enough. Engine next though . Unbolt the box then hoist it out? Any tips appreciated.

Found these old pics of the cage.

The cage bolts onto welded in pads except for the braces to the rear arches, they are drilled directly through.
You will have to remove/cut the carpet in 6 places, cut the rear seat for the above braces.
If you can, find one with a bolt-in rear diagonal so you can un bolt it and use the rear seats!
Graham

ps: these are old pics, and seem to struggle to come up.
If you have probs tell me and I'll click some more no probs.

Cheers. Safety devices? Do you know if they can supply them with extra options? i.e. roof diag, door brace etc... One other question is the fitment of bucket seats to the floor. I know you get runner kits for the sidemounts to bolt on to but do they go directly to the floor or do i need to take the original frames apart for the bottom brackets? I can see a phone call to Dave Featherstone on the horizon...

Yes, SD cage, but now 4 years ago!
Getting all the options you ask may be tricky as they are not made in this country anymore (I think).
Google job i think?
I made my own supports (non adjustable) to get the seat as low as i could.
Fitting slides costs height! The seat will be as high as stock with runners, without, about 50mm lower.

Thanks Tim.
It does seem to be a 'taboo' subject and very few have offered help as they honestly don't know.
I will only fit it if I get the loom etc for one.
The box I have is a stronger Type R and I can get API to fit an normal visc. centre diff and I can sell the dccd as a spare to the rally boys, which might pay for a front lsd.
I assume that is Pat as in mapping Pat?

same gearbox as i got Graham, i didn't get a helical front diff, but the car doesn't get driven anymore so no biggy i swapped the 4.444 to 3.9 and the gearing is perfect for motorway work and didn't lose too much low down

I can get over the 12 motorway trips the car does by fitting an Sti 5th (or even a UK 5th) as i never use 5th on the hillclimbs.
Having bought the box with the dccd i would like to install it, but info is thin on the ground!
Are the boxes a real DIY job Kev to work on?
Thinking of getting API to fit a visc centre to the 'new' trans and sell the dccd.

Graham,

You may not need 5th with the current ratios. I've not done a hill yet as I haven't had the opportunity but I've used 5th on every sprint so far. Having said that, the 2.5 is slower revving with limit set to 7K.

David knows, and probably has, everything you need but he's on his hols at the moment. Back on the 7th I think.

Graham, you can fit the DCCD and not power it up you know, it'll just leave you with 1/3rd front 2/3rds rear torque split all the time, which is nice

And yep I did mean Pat The Mapper Pat

I seem to recall Wallis and Gromit offered advice to you over on 22b

David started to offer 'electronic' advice but understandably, TOTB is happening!
By magic, a full thread has just appeared in Drivetrain!

I have really to wait for David at API to comr back off hols to see what i can do.
If the doner car becomes available then I can get all the hardware I need...at a price! (£150)

Yep, I've seen a stand alone one too, I think on 22B, might be worth searching the archives?

Do you really mean stand alone, as in no need for all the ecu/plugs/wheels and a box full of luck?
It would be nice to have a switchable 'full lock' for demon full-bore starts, and then for a 'setting' to take over...
Which part of 22B?

Isn't that what's being discussed in drivetrain ATM? Sounds like it's programmable too, so better than OEM

I've sent for info on the Neetronics unit. Looks like god's gift to me.
Still needs all the brake/throttle/handbrake sensors etc so not exactly pop-it-in approach.
It looks to be an advance on the stock meccano parts, so could be the way forward.
Will check the TEG item to!

I've been trying to find info on this lot for days, then a skip load arrives. Thank goodness I'm doing this in October and not now.

Graham, if I'm not mistaken the car has all these sensors already, you just have to tap into them.

Did you notice any real world benefit from keeping the i/c spray and using it with the FMIC?

Water Spray:

Real benefit? Yes I think so especially on a hill climb with a long stright in it.

Neetronics:

They have responded to my email. I need to look at the web site again, but it does look a nice box of tricks.
At $450 ish it meets the cost of 2nd hand Subaru parts and you get more control.

Serious thinking time.
I will discuss/go to API and chat to David also before spending yet more $$$$$
I should be putting this money into my slender pension fund...

Andy, your thread just poped-in, will do.

Spoke to Andy at Neetronics last night. Had a nice chat with him and sorted out a purchase. He's the sales manager and builder. there was a 2 week waiting list but he managed to get parts in late yesterday and there should be one in the post today!

The engine's out now and just needs stripping/measuring before it's sent away to the machine shop. Point is, i'll have some idle time on my hands and if you want, i could do some poking about under the chassis and have a look at how the dccd is installed and take some pics if it would help...

Doug:

Just been looking at the Neetronics data on the controller.

What exactly have you bought?
Your car already has dccd so has all the sensors they talk about.
They do not make it clear what they sell and what you may need additionally to get it all to work.

I'm getting tired of chasing the expensive stock parts £180 seems the going rate, so one of these controllers seems a bit more but offer a lot more.

Can you give me any more details please?

My last resort for stock parts is API/Powerstation and someone who 'might' sell me some he has.

Any diagrams/pics/etc would be invaluable!

Graham.
