Oh! That's a toy one that came from a guy we do business with from the far East. l need to evaluate that before I offer it to anyone.

The Scoobysport ones that I have here are 3 - 2.5 but that is because most cars don't need a 3 - 3 they don't make enough power to make it work. It's just a case of ordering the 3 - 3 and then we're off.

Yes it is 100 cell - the finest money can buy.

John:

Tried an RA box (1995) 2 years ago to hill climb.
Went slower.
Revs drove me crazy at any speed
Fuel consumption was criminal

Removed it and went back to my Sti v3 trans:

Went faster etc etc

IMHO: really not worth it on the hills, just too much gear changing.
Unless your engine will hit 8K rpm, forget them.

Not sure of the ET but they are P1 wheels.
Off the car now the 16's are on with fresh Kumho's.
Car back on the road this weekend to scrub them in and get ready for the AndyF remap for the FMIC.
Brakes need breaking in too. Wish it would stop raining!

Next real challenge is getting the best from the 3 way AST's on a hill climb.

Nice to hear from you again!

graham, sorry to change the subject of the post, but I raised the car a little bit but now I lowered it again, the front arch wheels are about 595 mm from the ground and the rear 600 mm ( with the 205/45/17 ). like I told you before, the front wheels rub inside the arch wheels, the best solution is change the height adjustable coil-overs for a 2 way or an even better 3 way coil-overs. slow, like when I'm parking, it only rubs if it goes through a bump or something like that, but when I speed up a little bit it rubs a lot when turning. I guess only the sway bars won't help, like I said before, maybe the 3 way coil overs do the job.
again, I'll appreciate your opinion on this subject. thanks in advance.

I tend to measure from the centre of the wheel to the wheel arch btw. Raise the height and add roll bars to lessen the rubbing.

The right coil overs will do the job, not necessarily 2 or 3 way.

Exactly as Floyd says!
That car sounds too low. The drive shafts will be under huge strain on full deflection (assuming bump stops have been changed) or, the car will hit it's bump stops at high speed which is/can be Bad News!

Took the Sti to the MoT today, first 'drive' with the FMIC/cone filter.
I was a bit careful as the mapping is to be sorted by AndyF soon, but the cone filter sure is full of 'whhhooosssshhhh'. Sounds like there's a hole in the windscreen....

With the old Jap cat on, it got through the test, but was reluctant to get hot (left it ticking over for 20 mins to cook everthing), but got the new MoT cert anyway.

so:
Buy a real modern sport cat or re-fit the decat?

New pads seem good, new Kumhos are great, just the AST's to sort now at Curb test track I hope.

Hill climb test day on April 2nd, so not too long to wait now.

Graham.

Graham,
I took my car for it's annual check up last week,, complete with twin catted centre section and i left it running for 30 mins after i got to the testing place, 10min drive before that aswell, and STILL when he came to do the emmisions test, (first thing) the oil was only at 70 degrees.... should be 80 for the test.... so he sat there for a good 3-4 mins at high tickover 3k ish.... to get the temps up......

it seems that tickover just doesn't get the cats anywhere near warm enough.... lots of revs and therefore hot gasses does the trick though.....

Yes; the MoT man blasted the engine hard to get things 'in the green' but it worked.

I'm tempted by a TSL sports cat and weld a 3'' end section from my decat to it to get 3'' all through. At £400 they are a deal.

Can you keep it hot enough to get through the MoT?

Made my mind up.
The de cat goes back-on tomorrow and I'll let AndyF screw the most out of the package in 2 weeks time.

Enough of the engine, it is time to get the AST's sorted

Yes, mapped the engine with Andy last year with the cat on, and struggled to keep 1.4 bar beyond about 6K, we thought it may be the cat.
When i took the car to Well Lane a week afterwards I had put the de cat on but no change to the map, ran once at 407 bhp, but average of the 3 power runs would be about 380 bhp.
I hope Andy can wring a bit more (torque) from it this time.....

Did you run out of wrap Graham?

The hotter you keep that exhaust the better.

Yes, did the decat ages ago, then the cat came along so I nicked some off the decat for the cat and ended up with a bit on the cat and a bit on the decat.....

Wifes just told me to go and buy a sports cat......

Colds getting to me.

Wife and daughter don't like me running illegal (which a decat is), non green (which a decat is), but all my options are 3'' all the way through.

I can get a H&S d/p 3'' all the way, but for £500
Or get a TSL off eb@y and cut/weld the end off my cat to convert from 3 to 2.5 to 3 all the way.

Lost interest now, unless she insists...

Graham.

I have installed the cat again, since I'm still under the 300 BHP I think there is no need to go decat. there is a slight diference, but I don't have what I need in the garage to install and uninstall the cat every year before and after the annual check up so I think it's better to run with the cat on.

Like I said, I only have the afterburner exhaust now, do you think it's ok to put a bigger turbo and a piggy-back or a new ECU ( wich can be mapped )? like this the engine bay still looks standard, because now they make a fuss with almost every mod... I think I even have to take off the afterburner for the annual check up because it isn't certified ( like some of supersprint ).

what is your opinion on LINK ECU? or should I go to a piggy-back ECU when I can ( €€€ )?

IMHO:
Fit an Apexi FC ecu. Will do everything you will need, bigger turbo's included, and is a good system.
You might have difficulty getting it mapped where you are?

I mentioned the LINK because I could get one used for 450 euros, a new apexi fc costs more than 1000 euros...

Fit an Apexi FC ecu. Will do everything you will need, bigger turbo's included
with the apexi I can install a bigger turbo or something else that it can control everything? do you think a new ecu and a bigger turbo is a good solution to keep the looks standard but gainning a more powerfull scooby?

In Portugal some shops do the remap, but two friends of mine, a few years ago, had their cars mapped by someone from uk. it's more reliable.
one of them had an impreza type R imported from UK and the other a 22B replica, with lots of parts imported from Australia.
