In Birmingham we call them Gilbows (accept no substitutes).
I could do with some off-set ones...

Do we 'snip tin' anymore in this country?

Graham.

I have two pairs of these ones and a pair of these, accept no substitutes Actually I say 'I' they're really my dads from when he worked as a panel beater to pay his way through college...along with the oxy and arc welding kit

I also have some 'aviation' snips which are cheap crap and never get used anymore as a result

Back to the serious stuff:

I will be calling AndyF down to re map my Sti in late March, no date fixed, but I will be gunning for a friday if Andy can.

Last time we used my house as a mapping base, and several cars came to my house for Andy to weave his particular magic.

We all shared the travel costs which Andy keeps separate to the mapping (as it varies from car to car).

Is there any one out there wishing to join-in and share in the day?

I live close to Wolverhampton, about 30 mins from the M6/M5 J10 so easy to get to.

I will furnish the coffee.

Graham.

Graham, when you started the FMIC you said that you were surprised at how heavy it was.... did you ever weigh all the bits of bumper etc that were removed.... inc the old top mount...?? Just out of interest.....

The last couple of years, March has seen me in Scotland, with a visit to Andy on the way back Nothing definite yet for this year but a drive to Edinburgh is preferable to the M5/M6 on a Friday.

Suicide is better than the M5/M6 on a friday...same thing really.

Ron:

It is amazing how light the plastic bumper becomes as you strip it and cut.

The steel plates that hold the STi 'lamp cover' on and the plastic, and the indicators etc see (feel) half the weight go.

The top mount and the weight lost probably equal the same. I doubt that the overall weight has changed much.

It bought it home to me doing the bumper that if you stripped the car to race spec, no road consideration, (ie Fuzz/Wallis) then the weight loss would mount up.
If you then kept the roll cage sensible, that is an FIA 6 point and welded it in with attachments to the seat belt points in the B posts then you would find a 1000Kg car.
It will be good to see how the Flyweights fare.

Just finished the plate bracket come water spray mountings and worked out how to cut the lower lip off/out of the bumper moulding, so fun tomorrow night too

Graham,
Look at the intercooler pipes in this pic. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...engine-bay.jpg
See what they've done to stop the hoses actually blowing off....... that'd be a good idea then eh..!!

Thanks Ron. Those straps are on the joints where the engine moves (do they on WRC's?) and the static parts ie FMIC, but they run really high boost too!

Anyway, with the tension in all my FMIC pipes they would hold the engine in place no matter what!

Wonder why nobody has replicated the WRC installation, a sort of semi FMIC/TMIC configuration?
Bet Kev's doing this as we type.
Graham.

Notice how small the I/C looks - almost STi8 size TMIC in area! The rad must work as normal with extra ducting to the I/C.

What are all the connections on the inlet manifold?

but look at how thick it is!
Bet it only works well with a fast (petter fast) air flow....

Kev, you might be wise to stick to a TMIC....and add CO2 chiiler. Maybe that's what i should have done!?

Yes they're in Scotchland but near Glasgow, not Knockhill.

And no I'm not kidding. Don't know the full details but it will be a wrc slanted fmic including custom vented carbon bonnet and several other "world" parts.

No website (think ones in the pipeline tho) but they are a well established business and used by pukka rally teams as well as us wannabe's. If you got this months J Tuner mag with the Lemon Jun Skyline in it they used to look after that.

Started the Bathroom today, but managed to pinch a bit of Scooby Time tonight

Number plate bracket with water spray and Hozloc nozzles:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=nlzfc6

Onto the bumper..using double sided tape and 6 pop rivits:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=nlzhbo

The Impreza one-way valve will not stop syphoning from the washer bottle (my IC water reservoir) so a big Halfords one fitted instead using sticky-back mounts and cable ties.

Changed the top scoop back to the cool classic one ready to sell the large scoop soon:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=nlzk1j

Finally, as I might forget in the rush to do other things, modified my time strut to suit the new mount:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=nlzl9i

Just the brakes to do now, some new sticky Kumho's, a remap with AndyF and I can book my test day at Curb to sort the AST's out...
Nearly back together and getting excited for the Season and some EVO chasing (beating?)

Graham

Did a bit today after the bathroom...

Cut the underside away of the spoiler as suggested by AndyF and it realy exposes the lower area of the FMIC. Easy to do using a jig saw on slow speed.
Did that so quickly, I installed the Pagid pad from AS Performance after:
http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=nntlsg

Not a lot left on the Green Stuff pads that have done 8K road miles and 2 seasons of hill climbs, but you never realy use the brakes in a hill climb.....

That's about it all done on the engine side now. Just need to clean the wheelarches, new tyres, get AndyF to the car, a private track day etc etc

Then we are off out hill climbing

Graham.

ps: TMIC/tray and scoop all for sale!

Yes; forgot to take a pic while the car was jacked-up for the task.
Will do later.
Bumper is still surprisingly solid despite the removal.

Good idea! Just a shame my s/h hks one's got the bottom row blanked off after being repaired! Also like what you're done with the i/c spray Graham. Providing interesting reading and idea's for a newbie... Hopefully i'll be along to see you and John in action later on in the year!

The scoob's finally away into the body shop this week to get the quarter and front replaced. Then its a case of persuading my dad to shift the stilletto he's restoring out of the garage for a few months... .
