Graham

There is a Scooby Rolling Road day on Sunday 27 Feb, up at Well Lane Turbo's in Batley, near Leeds. Andy F will be there, Dave Wallis too.

It's full but you can have my place if you wish??

Let me know!

I was up there last time ( nov ? ) 2 days after my Andy F Session, I left with a surprised grin at the results ( see scoobymag no. 3, page 65!!!! )

I know!, I give in.
Trying now to sort out to fit my old Magnex d/p or a 'new' H&S with wide open neck.
Doubt the neck design between the 2 will matter much, both are 3'' straight through.

Will be back to you asap on the well lane run! What is the cost? do you pay there or what? Never been to one before.
Vulnax, who are you on those pages?

Now it has all sunk-in, I realy am pleased with the car, but a hill climb friend is thinking about Tweenierob's car......

Oh well, it's only money.

Graham,

Speak to Andy, I'm not sure if the wastegate dump pipe on the Magnex will flow well enough to prevent boost creep on the 20G.

If you check on page 1 of this thread, you will see graham's magnex is a 3" open neck and not a twin dump, so I doubt the H&S will have any advantage over the magnex.

Feverishly changing mt cat d/p to my old Magnex open neck decat.
Will have to tweek the Apexi to suit via a phone call with Andy F, and I'm hoping to get to the Well Lane RR session on saturday for a revealing power run.....

Will it do it or not?

I wanted 360x330....what do you think with 1.4 bar right to 7800??

Graham.

I'd still fit a H&S, much better fitment and flow soooo well..

3" H&S downpipe + HKS Hiper..turned a tame car into a wild car.

Im not running at well lane anymore. May come spectate.

Depends how quick you want one but I got my H&S downpipe 3" coming up soon when engine comes out. Literally put on the car the other day by them to go with the new exhaust so 300 miles on it so far

Newage one but you can use the centre join pipe for it.

Thanks to you all for the offers/advice, but for now the Magnex 'openish' neck going on due to costs and time.(Andy won't be impressed..)
Cat now off, wrap off too and the Magnex going on tonight.
I'm hoping to make the Well Lane RR day on sat this week to see what figures might read-out, much depends on the Commander reset and the weather to be honest.

I need to fix other things more than the H&S d/p, like race entries that have rocketed to £108 per meeting, thats £27 per run over a weekend, thats £27 for 60 second blast......good this racing lark, eh?

Anyone got a grotty facelift or later classic bonnet scoop they want a few quids for?

Madness,

Graham.

The stage is set.

Decat back on
ECU rumbled a bit via Andy, yet to test on the open road due to snow/cold/unwilling wife...
Road test needed to see what boost I can record on the Commander at 4K 5K 6K 7K 8 ish K.

Booked into Well Lane for the Scooby Sunday runs, so the truth will be out.
I've been promised a cup of coffee if the engine does not make 360x330, Carman's so generous!

Will let you all know the outcome when I get back, and the thread will conclude!

Unless of course the numbers are not there.....

Yikes!

As long as the car goes like stink (which it currently does) and has a good torque then the actual numbers are only an indication 'on the day'
I have driven to so many hill climbs at 6.00 am in the morning, good moist cold air, car going so well, only to realy feel the negative difference when actually racing at 2 in the warm afternoon.
Hence the cold water quench on the TMIC and ice cubes in the IC spray just before the race run.

Bothered more about the weather and the effect of all the salt on the roads on my suspension bits!

I am there on this sunday. All squared away.

Just been for a 3rd gear flat out boost check, and still the car peaks @ 1.37 and tails off after 5000 to 1.2/1.15 which is irritating.
Good news is Andy F is there on sunday so might tweek it there before the run.

Chrome, you managed some mega numbers at Scoobyclinic, I will be chuffed to get the same!
If I don't (remember Carl was dissapointed?) then I will be begging for help on Sunday night
If I need to RR it again will use Well Lane to keep things consistant, maybe bring Andy down to the RR also.

Graham.

Hi Graham,

Good luck tomorrow it will be interesting to see how you get on in comparison with my results at Power Engineering last weekend.

My spec,

94 WRX 260 bhp version.
HKS induction kit,
Custom Samco 90 degree intake,
TD05 / 06 20g turbo from Andy F,
Apexi FMIC,
Apexi blow off valve,
Walbro fuel pump,
FSE reg ( soon to be replaced with an SX reg )
550cc Blitz injectors,
HKS irridium pugs,
Gruppe-s jet hot coated headers,
Helix flexi up-pipe, wrapped,
H&S 3" open neck down pipe with spliter mod, wrapped,
HKS hyper Ti-tip,
Apexi AVCR,
Apexi Power FC Pro spec ECU probably the 1st 1 out of Japan
Optimax and 1/3rd of a bottle of NF race,
Mapped by Andy F to 1.45 bar max.

341 bhp @ 6660 rpm and 289 lbs / ft @ 5500 rpm.

( 3/03 last visit to PE before most of the recent mods 319 bhp @ 6188 rpm and 320 lbs / ft @ 4800 rpm at 1.4 bar boost )

I do not know how much boost it achived on the rollers as they did not connect their boost monitor to my car and they switched the ignition off before I could check the recall on my AVCR.

They did comment on it running dangerously lean at over 13 on their meter and said it should be in the high 11's, but they didn't use det cans so they couldn't tell me if there was any det, they just said it's not safe to drive.

To be more honest I'm more confident with Andy's set up on the road with wide band and det cans than their opinion on the rollers. It could of just been the FSE playing up so it's going to be replaced with an SX item. The main thing is my Scooby runs the best it has for ages, feels quicker and is also far more economical since Andy mapped it.

Cheers Colin.

That's interesting Colin, as the numbers you have there are not what many would expect of such a high spec car.
Like you, I rate Andy and the care he puts into the car. He will not be at Well Lane, but 'we' have done a simple mod to the turbo to see if the boost can be held over the full 3400 to 7800 @ 1.4 bar.
It will be great if I can hit the 360x330 target numbers, but I am not that confident to be honest, but if the car is actually quicker than last year racing then i will be pleased.
If the season pans-out to be weaker, then I will break the parts off the car and return it to stock where practicable and sell-up!

I always have the scarey 911 to modify some more (3.8 engine and such like).

Here's hoping...

Graham.
