Bolt-on 360 bhp x 330lbft: Phase one started.
Tim, that is my worry too, but if i can get the car basically set then I'm ok with it. There are very few roads that can 'tolerate' wild blasts anywhere.
I think Bruntingthorp is closest to me too.
As an aside; if you map to a safe level in 2nd/3rd then the parameters should be ok for 4th?
The car now rips through the gears, so holding 7500 in 2nd is easy/instant/pointless after a few seconds as the loading has gone and to load the engine again is time for 3rd and full throttle?
At this stage the engine would be safe but not maximised. It would be driveable on the road and could be taken to Brunt for a remap in peace and quiet later.
Graham.

No need to hold steady high speeds Graham, that is only required for setting up speed density systems such as the Link ECU.
Incremental acceleration runs to begin ie 3krpm to 5k in 3rd, then 3k to 6k then 3k to max used rpm. This will be approx 75-80mph on your car.
Then its on to a higher boost and same again. Finally either a 4th gr run if you are comfortable with that or just a quick blast up the 1-4 gears (motorway 'on' ramps are ideal for this)
From the information gained (and previous experience) an appropriate safety margin is added for 5th gear longer duration high speed running.

I'm getting nervous....
Always wanted a 2.33...
Always wanted an excuse to buy fresh Y fronts...
Always wanted to come first in class on a hill climb
Clear the roads!
Hope you are not camera shy Andy.

911,
I'd be interested to know who your insured with (I too have an STi3) and the approx premium as I'm heading down the slippery slope and hoping to get an Afexi FC soon and insurance companies have seemed rather jittery whenever you mention STi3 and mods in the same breath. pm me or e-mail me if you prefer.
thanks

No!
Not MORE $$$!
I am reasonably sure it will be ok as long as my handy-work holds up.
The 2.33 sounds a good engine as it keeps the Subaru bores/head gaskets, and the real cost is in the rods/pistons which are a good investment.
I also recon a 6 speeder is next, then slicks.
Could do better and just buy Tweenierob's car!
You seen the spec for the price?
Graham.

Nearly forgot:
My insurance company is Footman James.
Cost is about £600, 3K miles a year, fully comp with all the mods declared.(full NCD and 3 points which have just elapsed the 3 years
)
Been with them for 3 years with the car, no claims at all, so maybe they trust me?

Thanks Graham, I'll give FJ a ring nearer the time and see what they say! Osborne have said about £100 as long as the bhp doesn't go too mad i.e. 10% (so if on 102 ron it left the factory with 300bhp (reputed in some quarters) that leaves me with 330ish on Optimax with bags of torque, I hope.
Even I feel nervous for you and can't wait to hear of your experiences. Andy
did a friends uk classic in Nov and he's still talking about it now and phoning me with the window down!!

Yep, and its raining!
Didn't think you would be reading this Carlos...god, I wonder how many other experts are?
Anyway, all good fun and makes Scooby ownership a bit more interesting.
I'm not actually that nervous, but will be happy when it is all done and I can try it in competition in about a months time when the hill climb game starts.
The EVO's are coming, all 4 of them, and one has 640 bhp/2.2 litres so about 500 lbs ft too
Who would race cars!
