Bolt-on 360 bhp x 330lbft: Phase one started.
Reverse the inlet manifold! now theres an idea!!
Could this possibly have a detramental effect, as the pipe into the inlet manifold would have to run over the top of the engine instead of work its way aroud. hence warm the air back up.
Envy you a bit with the racing, used to race bikes myself. Hell of a buzz this racing lark.

Don't go there; inlet job or the racing!
The hill climbing game is realy good as it is a speed event, so only you are on the track generally, so no body trying to elbow past you phsically.
Quite a few Bikers are now racing on the hills in cars.

Nah, just machine out a big hole in the Radiator side of the inlet and 4 screw holes, bolt on the throttle body ( and move cable etc ) and blank off the original throtle hole, and mod the inlet for FMIC ( not too good as said above with a TMIC though!! )
And what of the other bits, alternator etc....be good fun doing it though on a spare inlet.
Remember J Bank's thread years ago when he did his. Didn't it hit the bonnet when he reversed it?
Going to make some race solid engine/box mounts next.
Just a week until Andy F arrives.....

Reversing the manifold does indeed bring bonnet to throttle clearance issues, the Wallis style of just drill a new hole seems better!!!
Use the bigger / harder STi mounts .. ohh you probably already have those...
Roll on Andy, make Graham's day!!!

Sorry to but in but that was my P1 at roger clark motorsport last saturday. It will not be standard in 5 weeks time .I am turning it into a hillclimb car but wont be running until next year.9 grand gone but 360 BHP 320 lb torque.Cant afford to get it re-built until begining of next year ,so not going to risk engine until re-build.

Great looking car Marty.
There has been a P1 running in the midlands Sprint Series in stock production class for about 2 maybe 3 years, but on strange tyres.
360 bhp will be nice!
Perhaps will race with you in 2006!

I've collected half the bits, hopefully next month another thread will be on this forum

The total price is £9,200 .For that i got gt 35 turbo motec ecu and a load of other bits .Just hope the standard P1 engine will last for 12 months before re-build.Cant waite till next spring/summer to get engine re-built and then have a go at hillclimbing.I have been going to shelsley and prescott for the last 7 years, only as a spectator.

Marty, we must have seen each other!
I've hill climbed there for the last 12 years in my 911 and the Sti.
I'd better start hiding my 'secrets' now I know you are coming to blow my doors off...
Actually drove the Sti out of the garage today and gave it a good wash. It seems to run better now than it did before! (well, tick-over seems better..)

Graham.
It is killing me waiting.
Andy is doing 2 of us on thursday. I've been so bored I actually waxed it on sunday....
I am bothered that i havn't done enough to the car to get the very best out of the effort and cost, like a 'full' cold air supply to the stock panel filter (which i want to keep).
BIG surprise was that my Insurance company was NOT fussed about the mods (
) which are all declared now I'm almost back on the road.
I will be giving a blow by blow account of the day; matbe Andy is more nervous than me!
This is my first map on any car, never had the need or the right car to demand it as the lovely 911 is a naturally aspirated 3.2 litre torquey flat 6 with a mild chip.

Sorry, couldn't resist it!
good news comes from Carl, Peanuts, SteveB and others who are overwhelmed by the improvements and Andy's skills. I'm in save hands I think.
Gulp.

Novice tolerance switched on?
How do you map the car at its location? Do you not need rollers to do it on or does the apexi allow for specific component changes? Or do you just drive up and down the street?
PS I get the idea of what a map is, just not how it is adjusted without being under load etc.

*cough* Road or *dont cough* Rolling Road. Former gives better day to day realities.
Graham,
What tyres you running on this for the hill climb?
Dont forget to give me a shout for the Harewood Hill Climb

Will start the season (first runs early April) on my Kumho softs (16's) and if the gearbox is in one piece, might go to full-on Avon slicks...
Thanks about the 911, its a great old car, and electric to drive, just a bit slow with 230 bhp and 1000Kg!
It will be out on the road this year with simple trips to Donnigton etc for some GT racing events, would love to take it to Le Mans, but wife and I like the comfort of a modern car!
They don't make them like this anymore!
I wanted to map it on the RR but Andy said no, so road blasting it is

Having now got points on my licence, road mapping scares the crap out of me... trying to hold 1 bar at 6k rpm + in top to get the timing right isn't funny...in drizzle
With the new engine either someone else is driving or I'm going to have to pay for a few hours at Bruntingthorpe
