The production values put into Burnout 3, set it apart from the other 2. It also feels like its been finely honed, instead of rushed out to the shops.

It all looks quite simple at first glance, but there a lot of depth in there. Who doesn't have a huge grin on his face when powersliding the muscle cars around a big corner ?

I take it, it was all developed over here in Blighty ?

Criterion now bought by EA = stranglehold on the industry ?

 

I've been playing it on the PS2 - amazing game, best I've playing a while tbh.

 

Bought it on Xbox on Friday - awesome!!

I usually like full on simulators like GT3 etc, and dont usually buy arcade racers but this is fantastic.

The whole package works well - the sound effects are done perfectly so you get the whoosh of oncoming traffic as you miss it by an inch, graphics are great and the speed is awesome.

The crash and damage dynamics are the best i've ever seen - Codemasters and the GT team could learn a lot from this.

I would like to see a sim version as well - same gameplay as Burnout 3, but with the sim element of say GT4 - so normal driving, but where you can ram people off.

 

Works great on my 42" telly also And my Logitech driving force pro works really well on it too... has anyone done a wheel for the xbox with feedback yet? (resistance not just rumble!)

 

Not yet. Maybe when Forza Motorsport comes out.

 

Got a copy of Burnout 3 at the weekend. OMG! What a cracking little game. I'd read some good things about it, and I'm into driving games, so I thought "what the hell"

Very impressed. Graphics are top notch, the sense of speed is amazing, the crash damage is great. The gameplay is very good, taking down opponents is just plain fun (slam you into that pillar you dozy sod! smash you into that tram! yeeee haaa!!!) Music fits in well with the game too.

All in all a lovely package. And I've only played it offline too! (still) not got x-box live, but will do one day, and then I'll be having my jubblies online, sweet!

 

I hired it for the xbox a couple of weeks ago and loved the game but hated the fact that you can't change the controls I hate using those stoopid triggers

I'm going to try it on the PS2 and see if the controls are the same as the previous two because I have them on the PS2.
I loved the new takedown feature though

 

Stoopid triggers ?! They are the best feature of the Xbox controller and ideal for driving games ! Especially for this and OutRun 2. You need to be able to feather the brake and plant the throttle to master the drifts in these games, and using X and [] on the PS2 pad makes it very hard IMO. Triggers rock !

Another vote for triggers. Playing GT4 prologue using the buttons was a nightmare, not enough range.

 

I can't get the hang of steering with my thumbs I always setup the controls so that I can use the buttons

 

I prefer buttons, as I spent so many years playing PS2 driving games and using the rear triggers as gear change buttons.

Now if I use the Xbox triggers for gas/brake I have to have auto gearbox as I cant get used to changing gear with the buttons.

I use triggers for BO3 though But they do hurt my hands after a while

 

I must admitt I was thoroughly gutted to find out (after persuading 4 mates to buy the game too) that there is no system link support. I can't understand why it is xbox live only - surely the code for making the game multiplayer system link is already there if it supports online live play!

But it is a great game though!

with my fingers On my left hand I use my middle finger to steer left and the finger next to my thumb (index?) to steer right and use the same fingers on my right hand to use the throttle, brake & handbrake It probably looks odd but I've got so used to it now
