Iain Young 16 September 2004 08:11 AM

I'm pretty sure it's not coming out on PC.

Buy an Xbox, it's better than the PS2 ;) (Burnout 3 on xbox - same game as PS2 but much nicer graphics and xbox live support :D )

DazV 16 September 2004 12:44 PM

if only GT4 could have damage modelling like this!

Twigster 16 September 2004 01:15 PM

Just got mine yesterday. Awesome graphics and the live play is a really good laugh!! :D
Anyone up for a couple of races later on?? :D

CataIunya 16 September 2004 01:22 PM

Best driving game ever ! Get an xbox and get it......Why EA went on their own servers I will never know, got kicked off then timed out re-connections last night never seen any probs on XBOX live servers.....Silly Silly EA....apart from that tho excellent !

JackClark 16 September 2004 01:23 PM

I'm going to buy this on the way home tonight, bit tired of Driving Simulators, this sounds like a bit of fun.

Myk 16 September 2004 03:04 PM

Bloody Brilliant, even on PS2 :)

BaldyMan 16 September 2004 03:42 PM

Thought xbox was pc based - so in theory it should be coming out for pc.

They did this with halo - then eventually it was out for pc

Doesn't quite work like that I'm afraid. The conversion would require quite a lot of development, (so it would work on non xbox hardware), plus I doubt there's as big a market for it on PC as there is on XBOX / PS2...

JackClark 17 September 2004 12:02 AM

Great game.

DrEvil 17 September 2004 08:35 AM

Tis a great game - even the misses likes it for crash levels.

SJ_Skyline 17 September 2004 09:52 AM

FYI....

MKhan's Integra Type-R was used for some of the engine sounds in Burnout 3

clicky

Was playing this last night, thought the noise of the crashed car sounded familar :D

Mogsi 17 September 2004 11:39 AM

Anyone else finding it just a little to easy to obtain Gold on everything....!!

Cracking game, I'm just hoping it gets a little harder....!!

Myk 17 September 2004 11:43 AM

How far through are you?

The majority of the USA seems relatively easy, but some of the Far East ones are a little trickier (PS2)

:)

ianc 17 September 2004 11:47 AM

I love how the xbox owners say their version is sooo much better than the PS2 vers, then mention that EA have screwed online play and everyone keeps getting thrown out \ can't see rooms etc.. whilst PS2 owners are playing it online with no issues...

I'll take the one that works :D

I've only tried online for a short time, but had no problems on the Xbox at all. Graphically, the whole game is definitely a lot better looking than the PS2 version, especially when I play it on my 42" telly :D, seems to play smoother as well (although this might be an illusion caused by the higher resolution graphics)...

Mogsi 17 September 2004 12:01 PM

Not sure of the percentage, about 10hours play so far, the crash tests are very easy especially if you hit the x4 everytime....!!

Myk 17 September 2004 12:06 PM

Mogsi

In that case things will get a little harder.......just trying to get the x4 is a pain :)

EXSCOOBY 17 September 2004 12:12 PM

the xbox version wees on the ps2 from a great height
theres no comparison

Mogsi 17 September 2004 12:23 PM

Myk - I hope so, at the moment the x4 have been fairly easy to grab.....

My understanding was that both Xbox and PS2 run at a solid 60FPS, however I believe the Xbox has far greater antialiasing, thus it looks much cleaner than the PS2 version...

DrEvil 17 September 2004 02:25 PM

Who cares, its an ace game on both systems :)

JackClark 17 September 2004 03:15 PM

I had some trouble with XBox Live. Couldn't download something or other and kicked me off live at the end of every race. Other than that it's great, I love driving games but was getting very bored with online simulators and everyone bitching about playing by the rules, this is much more fun.

Hanslow 17 September 2004 04:47 PM

I've got all the golds on crashes in under 10 hours :) Some were pi$$ easy, others a bit more of a challenge. That with 1 or 2 race golds has given me 40% already :(

Thoroughly enjoying it though. Got to start on the races now.....

Have a feeling things are going to get a little tougher though :D

fastfrank 17 September 2004 08:10 PM

Hows this game compare to Burnout II on the Xbox? In all honesty I compared the realism/handling of the cars to the likes of GR2 so wasn't too impressed.

Xbox Live functionality was online scoreboard online which annoyed me totally.

Convince me its a better game:brickwall

Iain Young 19 September 2004 10:39 AM

Not played Burnout 2 on Xbox, so can't really compare, but from what I've heard, it's a lot better.

You can't comapre to PGR2 as burnout is an arcade racer, whereas PGR is a simulation. Different types of game. A fairer comparison would be to something like ridge racer etc...

Personally, I got bored of PGR2 quite quickly, especially the online stuff. Every time I tried playing a game, people just kept moaning all the time about other people not keeping to the rules (bashing people off the track to get around corners etc). Might give it another go sometime though...

Burnout 3 is just plain fun :D
