The P1 compared to the UK Turbo 2000 was indeed a huge leap forward. P1 still got lots of flack though 'cos the JDM STI Type R was better equipped and cost around £8k less by the time the cars hit the showroom. Even worse, production run was doubled so there were 1000 of the blighters.
22B UK wasn't immune to it either, damn import owners mock my final drive and resultant gearing

So again I ask, "What exactly is the huge improvement that the P1 had over the standard car?"

What exactly is the huge improvement that the P1 had over the standard car?
You're having a laugh arent you?

For starters near 70 bhp, 2 doors,17"wheels, sonic blue paint with everything colour coded, specially designed front splitter and back wing with carbon insert, rear wash wipe, nice driving front lamps, tweaked suspension, std tracker and the car was probably lighter too (ally bonnet for starters)

Prob some things I missed but you get the general idea All in all a significant improvement over a standard car

Yeah, you could be right, who knows?

But lets not just forget the small fact that the UK buyer can now have what they've always wanted - the DCCD and a lot more exclusivity than the P1.
Plus it will stand out more in a crowd of 6 million other sonic blue Subaru's

Urban,

I think I may be missing the point here but I think scoobynutta was comparing the P1 to the standard Impreza of the time, not the WR1.

magazines all have diffrent views people have diffrent views what matters is that you are with the car you have bought have driven evos and a WR1 and i personally prefer the WR1 and there are only 500 made so they are bit special and very diserable.

Yawn - boring

OK, some of my points may be having a bit of a dig and not comparing to the standard STI.

But thats what happens when you try and control 6 fecking "know it all" programmers who really do think they know better.

There's one in particular who's not that long out of nappies whom I had a Gordon Ramsay moment with earlier.

It went something like "Listen, just do what your feckin told - I've probably forgotten more about this than you're likely to learn"

Funnily enough, he's just sat in his wee seat coding away quite happily now.

Shaun
Just in case you have forgotten what your original question was I have placed it above.

You asked for p1 differences against a uk standard car. Was not an invitation to put "me too wr1 etc" after every one of my quotes.

For starters near 70 bhp

Sorry, but bollox
208 versus 276, thats boIIocks is it?

2 doors are indeed more desirable and asethitically more pleasing to the eye than 4 doors

nice driving front lamps

Yeah, nice and fecking small
Actually the driving lamps are a significant improvement on the largely usless items generally found on Imprezas.

The Uk buyer has not got DCCD. The DCCD is a manual dif control found on classic imports. What you have is a DCCA which is non manual and automatic. And frankly, having owned a DCCD car I do not miss the system at all, and prefer I didn't have it.

Think you'll find that the car that stands out from the crowd is the P1 Also, if the main reason you have purchased(?) a WR1 is to stand out from the crowd, then that's a very sorry reason.

I'd prefer a P1 over a WR1 any day of the week. IMO (gotta put that before I get hung).

IMO those that have such sad and strong opinions on other peoples choices probably didn't get enough loving as child. I can't believe how these threads turn out.

I've got a WR1 and I love it. I haven't got a P1 but I have been in on and I love it in a different way. I chose a WR1 as my next purchase. You lot can argue till you are blue in your face cos I'm out for a drive.

Regards davyBOY - would love to make a final comment but would hate to set you up with the "slander" threats that I'm sure you also used in the playground.

What a moronic quote

Somebody asks for differences between a P1 and a standard classic, answers given. How you have taken this as a slight against the WR1 is unfathomable.

These threads 'turn out' like this because of ignorant insults that people like you bandy about. Such a complex about owning a WR1.

Perhaps, but practical?

Agreed, but the STI doesn't have any to start with

The Uk buyer has not got DCCD. The DCCD is a manual dif control found on classic imports. What you have is a DCCA which is non manual and automatic.
Sorry, but I dont agree with that, the UK buyer has DCCD-A, which can be automatic or manual - you choose

Think you'll find that the car that stands out from the crowd is the P1 Also, if the main reason you have purchased(?) a WR1 is to stand out from the crowd, then that's a very sorry reason.
Maybe both of them stand out from the crowd, but IMO the WR1 would just stand out a little bit more.
I don't have a WR1, I may get one though, but not for the "standing out in a crowd" reason.
