Perhaps, but practical?
Pratical enough for me, and the people willing to pay a premium for 2 doors over 4

Agreed, but the STI doesn't have any to start with
Where does the sti come into it, thought you wanted P1 differences over a classic uk?

your IMHOs about standing out from the crowd are different to mine

And WR1bro

You lot can argue till you are blue in your face cos I'm out for a drive.
Can't keep away eh? lol

Think when I get a new car next I'll change my username to show everyone on here what car I drive for added oneupmanship.

Oh I VERY much doubt that. I would say there are about 500 in total in this country of my little beauty. About as unique as a car can be, and its 99% standard.....and I don't recall it ever suffering from Heat Soak.

Yeah, I did. But I've been trying to point out to you differences between the WR1 and the STI, but maybe the WR1 should be compared over the WRX then?

Fine, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this then

Compare it against a type25 or whatever its called.

When the P1s came out, they werent compared to std uk cars, but against the best that was around at the time, ie sti5typeR.

P1 owners got stick on here especially, for their higher price tag and seemingly lack of extras that the typer had.

Didn't stop me from chopping in a sti5typeR for a new P1 though

However, if i was in the market at the moment for a new Impreza, I'd have to say that id be very serious about the Litchfield job, especially if it had a comparable warranty to the WR1. Lets face it, at the end of the day the only reason for buying an official car is the 3 year warranty.

A few annoyances with any older car but oh so worth it. On trackdays its had a few Scoobs to!! Problem is they were doing their in/out laps at the time. The only one that wasn't was complaining of boost problems. I'd like to have a play with a Scoob when all is equal...

Why? the type25 isn't a standard UK car!

Why compare the P1 to a JDM car FFS, two completely different fecking markets!

P1 owners got stick on here especially, for their higher price tag and seemingly lack of extras that the typer had.
And i'm sure they lost loads of sleep over that

Exactly! And easier to obtain insurance!

I know the type25 isnt a standard uk type of car.

The P1 comparison to JDM cars is a perfect comparison. They are patently not different markets, the circumstances from me changing from one to the other is an example, im sure there have been others. Anyway, as i also mentioned, there were many P1 vs Sti5typeR threads and not many P1 Vs standard Uk cars.

The two markets you mention are more likely to be the same market in similarly priced/specc'd cars against another market for 'standard' cars.

For example, if i was in the market for a very rapid impreza it would be between a wr1 and a type25. If i was after a bog standard impreza it would be between grey wrx and a dealer sourced one. The major difference would be in the warranty, the insurance angle was not that much different i found, £100 tops above uk car for me for the imports i owned.

Warranty wise, at the time of p1 vs sti there were many reports of engines failing. Hence the added importance of a comprehensive warranty. the new shapes dont seem to be afflicted in the same way, so the warranty is less of an issue than it was 3 years ago. Also, if a comprehensive warranty is offered on the type25 there is no real reason not to go for it if you have the necessary funds. Youre buying a superior and rarer car.

Yes there are some out there who would Kev a car up to do other wonderous things and I respect them for that but that just isn't me
Am I the only one to spot the irony in that statement, coming from a WR1 owner?

I knew of a bloke, spent 28k on an STi5. Sold it 2 years later for 9k. Aaaagghhhh!!!
