I had an incident a couple of years ago. The driver of an old Volvo 440 was cruising in the outside lane (with nothing in the middle lane for several miles) at around 75MPH. After following at a decent distance for a while, they obviously weren't going to move over, so I undertook them and carried on for the last couple of miles until I had to move out again to overtake someone. I was still only doing 85MPH, ok faster than the national limit, but not excessive (clear road, dry, good visibility etc), it was safe manourvre.

Further up the A3 (and the junction where I get off) I'm sitting waiting to pull onto the roundabout when someone crashes into the back of me. It was the Volvo driver. Upon trying to sort it out I got a load of abuse about undertaking and some of the abuse was directed at me for having a Subaru.

I could tell by the way he was speaking he didn't care and as soon as I tried to call the police he was off (car has never been traced). Leaving me to sort the damages.

I try now to not antagonise anyone in anyway. I just join in with the other traffic and get where I am going in good time. If it's slow, it's slow. It's just not worth the hassle. I'll back down.

I still wonder what goes through some people's minds for places where there are converging lanes "I must beat the car next to me, its a life or death decision, I must beat the car next to me".

Incidently I did feel like I didn't want to own a Scoob after that incident. But I could have undertaken in any modern car, yet the abuse was against me and the car.

Thanks Eagle. A witness has come forward and the police have a lead on the car now. I wont comment further on the case here for legal reasons but will post the outcome.

Cheers again.

Dont want to be a damp squid, but its going to be next to impossible to PROVE, who was driving on the day of the incident.

Just thought i should point that out!

either way stick it to the sucmbags(not a typo).

Thanks again for your help people, especially to super-sleuth eagle. Will let you know how it turns out in the end, if the CPS decide to go for it (fingers crossed).
