[QUOTE=Kev_turbo]This could be stripped of its current logos and replaced by a skilled vinyl man if there is one in the vacinity that isn't busy repairing an inferior Jap motor (sorry) [QUOTE]
Can I take issue with a few of the above points...
Inferior?
Repairing?
Busy?
Skilled?
You have much to learn, young Padwan

Apple, some good points mate.
Some points to throw in to keep this going until the 24th..
This is not my stance at the moment as the jury is still out, but I agree that the name could possibly dilute the club somewhat. The operative word is 'could' as it would be up to us not to let that happen. As much as we wouldn't let the club move towards a chav/Max Power show.
No offence Kev, but the site does give that view. I appreciate that it died and that it was early on and trying to get off the ground, but I get the feeling that in the attempt to get it going, Yas, Mugu from Manchester (asking in the guest book how to 'boost his 700 BHP Skyline engine more') and the rest did not do it any favours.. It does however offer some lessons for us.. we go down that route at our peril..
It’s been said plenty of times that this club has grown due to the people involved… I feel that changing the name won’t change that. It will open the member base and make other marque owners feel part of the club proper… we can still vet the people and the cars coming in. Besides, there’s plenty of Chav/Max Power Impreza owners out there who would be attracted by the Impreza tag..
Some questions are;
Do we want to expand?
Do we want to expand the membership base to accept other suitable cars?
Can we achieve any vetting of new members to keep it as it is?
Will a non-Impreza club name, kill the club as we know it?
I suppose the above does give my view somewhat.. It’s certainly nice and healthy to discuss it.. Keep the views coming.. we can discuss at the meet and take a vote late on (to catch Phil) the 24th to see who’s in favour… or not..
Our first proper membership test I believe ..

Alan (and others),
The performance car club as it was came about as an expansion of the Yorkshire Performance Car Club that was successful, the reason the PCC collapsed was the then chairman seemed to spend ALL the club funds on anything he possibly could as quickly as he could leaving no contingencies, basically he sent the club bust.
Anyway the YPCC was formed from the evolution motor club which was formed many years ago by a load of nova driving chavs who frequented a shop/modifiers place called evolution motorsport, however the shop went under (owner banged up I think) and the yorkshire lot moved over and changed the club name. As people changed cars or there mates came the club expanded to a multi make club. It was a chav club through and through, I don't deny that but at the time there was the 200+ club catering for the big boys.
The name is available as would the web site URL, the club dies a couple of years ago so the image it had will have been forgotten by all but a dozen or so of the ex members, a relaunch would be possible.
On another point the reason I joined the YPCC lot was a fall out with the then leader of the yorkshire peugeot sport club. I had a 309 GTi so was welcomed with open arms every month, a friend of mine has a 205 Mi16 which he sold and bought a scoob. The PSC bloke basically told him that now he had sold the Pug he was no longer welcome to the meetings, lots of cross words etc later we both left. This is how single make clubs USED to be. (note for those that jump to conclusions. The WYIOC is not like this and I believe never will be).
Multi make clubs do have there advantages and if promoted correctly do not attract the chavs (200+ club for example)
Right thats enough of my garbled words, hope to see everyone in a couple of days.

Name change
Reviewing it as it stands we have a small mature family type club, with some good events from track days to BB-Q's and of course regular meet-ups which to-date I have enjoyed and would like to thank the people have gone out there way to help this happen.
Opening the club up in the 'Performance Car category' will attract more people and yes it could make things more interesting seeing and speaking to different performance car owners. On the downside I believe it will dilute the impreza club as we know it and it may even loose some of that family feel.
As for existing impreza owners who have moved on to something more powerful or even less powerful, I completely agree with 'Apple' that it shouldn't make people feel less of a member as after all they have contributed in some way or form in the past and in my view are accepted as good friends and honourable members.
Putting myself in the same shoes as a few of our members hence owning a different car and being asked the same question, should we be known as a performance club I can honestly say yes we should, but that doesn't mean it's in the best interest for the existing club.
Like Alan has mentioned we need to put this to vote and I think people need to be completely honest about their decision, understanding the pro's and cons.

Ere, Gary - you didn't wave tonight as I went by you but the way you looked so p*ssed off sat in the queue by mothers' pride, I didn't expect much...
Did I hear "they" were going to put humps round windsor road to stop it being a rat-run?

Also, I had a pm from Sticky regarding other stuff but part of that said, "I'm not sure about the re-naming thing, the original post I made that Phil picked up on was meant to be tongue in cheek, but it's snowballed..."

Andy - I don't think Andy's comments have snowballed (so PM him back to let him know ). Renaming comments/suggestions/ideas have come to me from a few parties over the last few months, so it's nothing new. Andy's comment was simply the catalyst. Time to air it really and put it to bed..
We probably have a 50/50 at the moment, so we'll see on Thursday. But I fully appreciate the 'If it aint broke' comments.. Part of me agrees, the other feels the need to expand and improve(?) ... and I'm not usually a fence sitter!!
If I really had to choose.. and this is after some serious thought, several Carlsbergs and a 4-2 win.. Then I'd side with not changing it.. yet. See how the club progresses, if it falters (very unlikely) then we could ask Andy to re-ask the question.... and start again
I'll still be asking around for a consensus on thursday..
Maddy BTW - Bugger. I didn't realise the match was on then..
The bridge does have a 14" portable some 8 feet up in the restaraunt.. I'll ask if they've got something bigger in for the tournament..
Sticky! Will that TV of yours fit in your boot?

If anyone has one of those projectors, it could be taken down and hooked into the back of Sticky' system. Maybe project it onto the Fenay Bridge outside wall...
It might stop the flow of traffic though and gridlock the area... LOL
Sorry fellas, I still will not be coming this Thursday, got my packing to do as well as watch the footy.....
Cheers

Well, I could sell tickets, 3 free seats (4 at a push) at a prime rate, about 8 standing watching through the windows, and another couple for anyone who just wants to listen.
Gentlemen, your bids are invited
No oranges at half time though, it would make a mess of the leather, and Phil wouldn't be too happy with that. After all, they will be his, someday

As for Dan, to be honest I don't know. Not spoken to him for 2 weeks, he does read this forum and will know it's happening without me telling him so who knows...

Oh, and speaking of club name changes and so on.....
Would my Golf GTI 150 Diesel classed as a performance car... Come the July meet, I may not have the scoob anymore... Reasons for selling go way beyond writing on here, but after 4 1/2 years of scoob ownership, I am looking at something else. Not straight away though, will be next year before a replacement is found. Gives me a bit of time to put that hard earned to one side, instead of into a car that for 5 days a week, doesn't move anywhere...
If anyone knows of anyone who might be interested in my car, as it is with all the bits, that is:
WR Blue MY02 STI Type Uk Prodrive with PPP
19" OZ Super Legs (spare set of 17" standard wheels, track day specials)
Toyo T1-S Tyres
STI / Prodrive Hella Driving Lamp Conversion (Original bumper blanks in box)
STI Front grill inserts
STI Front Carbon reflector blanks
Official STI Mudflaps
Defi Gauges (not coming out as the EGT sensor will be a bitch to do)
Uprated DBA 4000 Drilled and Grooved brake discs
Uprated Pagid Blue pads (squeeky, but very effective)
20% Pimp Tints
Official STI Type UK car mats
31,000 miles, registered March 02, 1 owner
Just had a look on AutoTrader online and there are plenty of examples up on there at 18.5 to 19k, without half the accessories this car has. I am going to be posting it on AutoTrader at 18k for the car as is. That's a lot of car for the money. Main reason for the better than others price is, the bonnet is stone chipped beyond belief, as is the front bumper in places. If it were immaculate, I would be looking for 18.5 to 19k...
Just thought i'd post it here first as some of you may know someone in the hunt for a car like this, obviously makes it easier to deal with people you know or friends of them... Failing that, it will be in the For Sale section on this BBS next month some time....
Cheers chaps...
A sad time really to let it go, specced it for some track fun and not really going to get have that track fun anymore...

And before anyone suggests my bro Dan, the insurance will cost something like £7k a year for him, LOL.....
Otherwise, I am sure he would be coming to the meets in his own scoob in future. I would be able to tag along too...
