Finally got round to removing the PCV pipes etc. this weekend, good old garden hose

The mapping on the Impreza Apexi I think is easier than the RX7 manual we were looking at and discussing as there is just fuel and ignition maps, not compensation maps and stuff to worry about etc..
air filter looks good.

right, that's summer out of the way, got some mods planned now, managed to get a new rad for it at last, only taken me 4 months lol
that should go on this weekend, new numberplate for the front Evo style to free up some cooling space up front
then we're onto new intercooler, injectors etc. ready for the remap

Where did that bonnet come from?? I want a carbon one the same as that with the OE style scoop and vents, but can only seem to find the one with the horrible massive scoop same as the DRMotorsport one!!
Cheers

didn't get the materials for the airbox stuff
got the new rad fitted though, but i forgot to refit the themostat i'd taken out and it's running too cold now
won't go above 68 degrees now
numberplate is relocated now in the passenger foglight
got a few options on intercooler, that, when photobucket is back up, i'll need some opinons on the cores designs, as i'm not sure which one is the better design, i have a good idea but i'll let some one who knows what they're talking about tell me

Pretty much got everything done, STi 5 TMIC now fitted, wasn't as hard as i imagined it to be, but damn, is it a tight fit?! (as you'll see by the pics) got away with only having to cut the throttle body back by 6-8mm and bit of 'modification'
to the firewall and gearbox bracket, brake vacuum pipe had to be shifted above the intercooler and the wiring loom had to be dropped below the intercooler to make room behind the intercooler. Also managed to get away with no support brackets as it's such a tight fit that the strutbrace holds it in place.
Also had time to make up the ducting from the bonnet to intercooler, might not look pretty but it does the job, also made a waterspray bar up instead of the the twin nozzles, seems to work really well so far, not idea how it'sll perform on the move though, time will tell
Heat shield for the air filter is also done, took longer to do that than fit the intercooler
really seems to work too, air filter felt cold after my test run, when normally you can feel a slight warmth after even a short run
before...

...the finished product

throttle body mods (notch cut out to enable hose to clamp further back)

original dump valve position retained, but it's a tad close

where it should be

strutbrace only just went back on

air filter heat shield

cheers Chris
i think the only bit that went wrong was the heat shield for the air filter, when i fitted it all together the maf sensor decided to rotate anticlockwise from the position i made the template, so notches i cut out were in completely the wrong place
i've since taped up the gaps with some of my famous silver tape

Looks very nice Kev
Not knowing what you have done to the scoop on the underside of the bonnet but looking at it you might want to put some metal front and back on the intercooler to ensure all the air goes through the intercooler?

the metal attached to the bonnet meets up with the edge of the IC at the front and with the 2 side pieces (isn't obvious from the pic), wasn't too sure what to do with the back of the IC just yet, i was tired and 'it'll do for now' was uttered
thinking a vertical metal plate should do it

no idea how it compares to the OEM underscoop though, not seen one, don't think i'm losing too much air through it as it is now, might invest in some sponge to seal it under the bonnet
air filter shield works a treat though

Kev,
I will be having a look at your car this weekend on the peak tour. Been watching the thread for ages, an amazing transformation. Looking forward to seeing it for real and in motion!
Don't think I will keep up.

sorry rob, it only dawned on me at the end of the day you didn't know who i was

timing: 20 degrees @ idle, 45 degrees @ 5000rpm/off boost
tyres: BF Goodrich lol
60 ft times: i lost my time cards
they were pretty similar to Mikeesinghs though, i wasn't far off his 1/8 mile times either, just lost it all in the last 1/8 (plus having to take 5th gear before the line doesn't help
)
only got 2 runs in, 1st one was a **** up, boost was all over the place and i missed a gear (ran a 14.6) 2nd run went ok, no major **** ups
(ran 13.4) went for my last run to find i'd lost my tab off my wristband and was turned away
only find it when i got home
