Talking WRX-RA STi insurance write off to.....

New project time

now i've had my year off it's time to start all over again to cut costs i've got myself a not so good condition MY95 WRX-RA STi problem being someone has rearranged the front end hopefully i've not forgotten how to work on a Subaru

got a few goodies with it to start me off inc. Apexi Power FC & commander, Apexi AVC-R, Ohlins shocks with Cusco pillow ball camber adj. top mounts, 3" SS cat back system and all the usual RA STi stuff like DCCD and a roof flap

some pics of the damage to start off with:

identification:

first job is to remove all the bent stuff and see what's underneath, engine damage is a possibilty with the radiator soo close to the cam covers, we'll wait and see

Looks like it missed the chassis rails and the inner wing doesn't look too bad

You'll be suprised how strong the cam belt covers are! (I hope)

Good luck.

latest pic update

good news is major parts of the chassis have avoided damage

drivers side

passenger side

now the bad news right inlet cam pulley has been knocked of

the cam still turns 180 degrees by hand and i can feel the valves seating - so my fingers are crossed that the engine stopped pretty quickly after inpact, there is also no marking on the inside of the covers to say it keep running whilst the covers were pushed against it

thanks for the offer David, all sorted

managed to get in touch with the previous owner who was very helpful with the history of the car etc., turns out it had a new clutch & cambelt the day before - isn't it always the same

not done much else this weekend apart from a good valet inside and straightening all the fins on the intercooler (my favourite job )

even the repair on that might shock you as there is probably about £1500 worth of parts to repair that, not including any labour

Talking

although i must admit it'll be like that 'property ladder' program where they get the budget completely wrong and end up spending massively over budget

Smile small update

just quickly ported the uppipe to the intercooler for what it's worth

and fixed the bracket for the cam position sensor that had snapped of the cam covers - not pretty but alot cheaper than a new cam cover

Looking good mate, cant wait to see the finished pics. Do you think it was worth while?? There is a crash damaged scooby on PistonHeads forsale. Looks to be slightly more serious than yours, and I reckon on the steep side!! Its an STI version 5, with front mounted intercooler etc, for £7500, on its way from Japan

LOL the cyclepath on the island is good aslong as you can get across the otherside before you lot come round, still beats riding in all the **** round that roudabout though

doesnt sound too bad, I thought it would have been a lot more than that. What year would the STIv5 be then??
Am busy repairing a Fiat Coupe Turbo at the moment, light front end damage, nearly there but cannot find a bonnet for any amount of money!!

What are the prices of scooby bits like???
