I've had a Corrado VR6 in the past and it was a fantastic car. Nice upmarket feel to it if you get it with electric pack & leather (which I had). Great for driving hard with brilliant handling but can also be a lovely cruiser on the motorways. You can have your cake and eat it basically.
From what I've heard of the GTi-6 it's good so I don't think you'll make a bad decision whichever car you get.

Before my Scoob (June this year) I had a Mystic Blue Storm (don't even think about a green one). Truly great car. Sounds superb - better than a Scoob and the pug is pathetic. They're fast and look the business - Storms had leather, heated seats and air con was a £2k dealer-fit extra and some of the fittings here dreadful so be careful. But...
Sold it because in my first year I spent £000's on it as it kept breaking down. Problem is it's an old car and if you get dodgy electrics - mine had 3 alternators in 1 year - it'll cost you more than a Porsche 993 to maintain, let alone a Scoob. Oh, and I only managed 18mpg.
If I were you, get a black / dark blue VR6. Make sure you get a thorough inspection, check all electrics and if possible shop around for one with aircon. Beware, most have had loads of owners and the last few may have scrimped on the maintenance. Check out their Corrado bulletin board http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/portal.php
Either way, don't get a pug. Look common, much more common, the interior makes a Scoob seems nice and they do seem to have a Max-Power image.
