Anyone know the 0-100 on the Leon Cupra R?

In my view the R is an unbeatable performance package for £17K new....

One of the lads with a Fiesta Turbo (not sunny) managed a timed 0-100 of 11.2 secs recently so im sure a Leon with the correct power can more than manage 12.6.

There was one fella claiming 0-100 in 12.6 seconds with his Revo chipped Cupra R, which would mean it matches an M5 and is faster from 60-100mph because the M5 is a second faster to 60.
For a standard R I would say 16 seconds should be obtainable.

NO WAY 12.6 with Revo Ha Ha LOL
My old Ibiza Cupra R (212 BHP Revo) was 14.2 @96MPH up the pod
If it were a Jabba tuned car 340BHP then maybe
0-100 will be about 16/17secs

WRX Wannabe what did you think of the Ibiza R with the Revo chip?
I had an Ibiza Cupra 20VT (not an R) with an Oettinger 210 conversion and it was bloody quick but a bit too much torque steer.
Wondered how the R was as it had different suspension - so the ride was probably even harder
Nice Brembo brakes on yours as well (I just had some Tarox grooved discs on mine)
Leon chassis seems much better than the Ibiza though in terms of dealing with torque steer. Feels like it can easily handle more than 210bhp.

As an R owner (and having owned 2 scoobs over the last 4 years), the way the R puts its power down constantly impresses me. I would say its nearly the equal of a standard scoob in the dry (even in 1st gear). Obviously not as good in the wet (or in the snow for that matter as I found out earlier this year !), but the gap between a good front driver chassis & AWD is certainly a lot less than it was a few years back. The brembos of the R are loads better than my old MY00 and there is much less understeer (than an unmodded car of course)
In my view the R is an unbeatable performance package for £17K new....

I have a Revo R but am not commenting on this one as I've not done any timed runs. I do have rolling road prints confirming 270hp and 285lb/ft though (which is nice ).

I had the RSD chip on my Bezza Cupra B4 i got the Bezza Cupra R and agree to much torque steer
The RSD chip ALWAYS held back and then kicked in again
I put some Bilstein PSS9 kit on my R and it did help(but still not a patch on the Scooby)
The Revo chip was Very good(IMO better then RSD) and on a Vag Com run i had 260 Lbs/Ft torque
It was a very quick car but i always wanted a Scooby so it had to go

A MK4 Golf owner who did a TT engine swap with a remap managed a 0 - 100 in around 12 seconds so i don't see why a remaped Cupra R wouldn't do the same.
The Jabba cars did 0 - 100 in 10.5 seconds recorded with racelogic timing equipment.
One of the reasons the Cupra r puts the power down better is because it has equal length drive shafts unlike the average 1.8T'd car

I know someone who had the Revo trial on an Ibiza R and didn't buy it and someone else who bought it and then had it refunded.
212bhp from a car that does 200 from the factory isn't very good. It's the same map as for the Ibiza 20VT so no benefit in being an R.

Being a person that swaps between Scoobies and VAG I have studied the 1.8T
A TT with remap and exhaust has been timed by a mag to 100 in under 13 secs. These number were obtained 3 odd years agao. Since then most tuners have extracted more from the twin intercooled 1.8T. Most tuners have to back off on the Leon Cupra R as the numbers are VERY good.
IMHO a remaped Leon Cupra R once on the roll will match a current STI and wont be far off a PPP'd one.
I just wish that Seat had given the Cupra R 4wd.

My Ibiza Cupra R was 212bhp with revo(standard 180BHP)
0-60 standard about 7.5 Revo'ed about 6.4
Leon Cupra R standard 210Bhp with Revo around 270Bhp
For £500 this is good

Aren't they upping the standard power to 225 BHP sometime this year (along with a price hike)? £18000 gets you the extra power and TRACKER Retrieve (plus one year subscription). The £17,000 version won't be available any more.

Not saying that the 12.6 is a myth but if you think about it you have a 60-100 of 6.6 seconds, if he managed a 0-60 of 6 seconds. This is faster than the P1 or 22B with a 60-100 of about 8 seconds and a match for a 380bhp RS4 or 400bhp M5 - which does suprise me have been in a few RS4's.

12.6 is a good time . How much faster can they go though and remain drivable ?. A P1/22b/type R/RA etc are only a few tenths slower and that straight out of the box, yes in standard trim. 280PS is hardly taxing the AWD system .
I alway remember Clarkson quote from one of his videos
"If you want a modified fast car start with a fast car in the first place"
The faster the standard car is, the better IMHO.

What would the running costs ( P1/22b/type R/RA) be compared to the Leon tho Chrisp
Servicing and bits (tyres, brakes etc on average) about £700
Insurance (modified group 20+ but then the Leon would also be modified so grouped higher) £1100
Tax £160
MoT £40
About £2K + fuel (@ 17-25mpg depending on journey)

Have you factored in the inevitable engine rebuild yet though?
As for the Leon being higher to insure its between a half and a third of the price of an STi to insure in my area (both standard)
Servicing costs are going to be a fair bit cheaper on the Leon but I should imagine it would eat the front 225/40x18s pretty quickly...

Eeehhh !?!
Sounds like some optimistic figures on here..
According to the factory figures the standard Cupra R (210bhp) belts from 0-60 in around 7.2 secs and onto 100mph in around 18.5 secs, topping out at 147mph. Much of the motor press can only get it to 60 in around 7.4 secs though..
The new 225bhp version that will be available shortly I believe is quoted to get to 60 in roughly 6.9 secs... not sure what the mags will manage..
Are the mags just fibbing then ? Can the current Cupra R really do the sprint in only 6.5 secs !? I have had a play with one recently in my MG ZS and there was very little in it - I actually nosed in front nearer 100mph.. though I suppose my kerb weight is about 150kgs down on the Seat.
Have to say though, they look great and the bigger bodykit and alloys are a vast improvement over the standard Cupra 20VT... great value for only £17k...
Can't see why they bother putting Tracker Retrieve on the higher spec one though... loads of insurers are knocking this version of Tracker off their approved lists... they should have opted for the Monitor version instead..
