Ah, so i've seen special editions have i? Therefore fatherpierre, these Focuses will be everywhere then, thus questioning *your* intellectual capacity too going by your logic..!
Ah the joys of commenting without the full facts!

I wonder if Ford realised at the time that putting "black" and "silver" on the back was rather silly and would invite these comments. The same comment was actually made on a Ford forum a while back, so it sounds like some marketing person didn't think the idea through fully.
"Elle" and (I think) "Chic" will be rather interesting too, especially when the cars enter the second hand market.

Nearly brought an Elle after going into a Ford dealership and being told the spec I thought it was a L as in GL or GLS but got slightly confused then I thought they wouldnt badge it just as an "L". Salesman was having a laugh with me, he said they could debadge it though.

fatherpierre - good point, well made! I guess we only have silver and black ones here..! I thought they were introducing it across the range, or it was a local dealer being "distinctive" or summin...!

I suppose people with blue, red, green focuseseseseses that want a badge of colour on their motor could knock up their own so they're in the 'in club'

Im sorry, max power thread? Where is the max power inthis thread??
Im not talkign btou the "i racced this etc" I was just voicing my opinion that personaly a focus has about as much carisma as john major.
No need to get sarcy about it, if u dont like the thread dont read it
I can see lots of otehr thread that you would call max power yet noone seems to mind, imho you must just be bored or the heat is getting through that thick skull and effecting your judgement.

Having had my BMW off the road or two weeks and having to drive a focus for that time, more thasn usual///i can say they arent particuarly nice.
Needs a rudder not a steering wheel- the word 'boat' springs to mind when its cornering.....
best thing aboutit is the fuel economy...very impressive....
Apart from that- pretty poor.

handle excellently?
compared to what?
FWD, very high centre of gravity, tiny rims, narrow tyres does not make a car handle well.
Brakes are also appalling.
Thats just the drive- loads of other things that all add up to make something not too great.
Its a bit poo.
All my personal opinion based on personal experience- nothing snobby about it at all.
Matters not a bit that it is a ford- the new fiesta handles better than the focus by a long long way.

I have the pleasure (Or not) of getting to drive loads of different mid-range family cars. I get three or four hire cars every month.
I don't know what Freak was driving with the Rudder comment but the Focus is by far the best driving, handling and steering car in the sector. The Zetec suspension setup with 16" rims 205/50 tyres (Standard on 2.0) and ESP is as near a perfect balance on UK roads as I have experienced. You have to judge in context though, don't expect a 1.4 CL with 14" wheels and 175 tyres to out handle a sports car.
Sure the 1.4 is underpowered and the 1.6 only just cuts it but that can be said about the smaller engined Astra's, Almera's, Corolla, etc.
The ST170 is a decent warm hatch but expensive at its list price, smart people will buy a pre-registered example for £13.5k or an ex-demo for £12.5k.
The Focus TDCi is the best small family diesel car you can buy at any money IMO, even better than the higher powered Golf PD's. The Golf's have noisy diesels with on/off power delivery and narrow power bands, the TDCi focus has loads of torque with a smooth consistent power delivey and very little diesel noise.
The Focus was Germany's most reliable car in 2001 according to their JD Powe equivalent survey. I have never had a problem with one.
About the only model I haven't driven is the RS so can't comment on that.
So back to the question.
For me the best fun you can have if you have to own a cheap to run small family hatch.

yes i know
I still think its poor compared to golfs, fiestas, saxos, etc and a a whole number of bog standard boring family type cars i cant be bothered to list.
Driven a hell of a lot and the focus just doesnt feel very nice to drive-hence the boat comment.

The Focus "silver" was a specific model IIRC like an RB5 or a terzo. There are quite a few specials. BTW mine just says Focus on the back and zetec on the wings .
