I posted scenario 2 to AskTheRef.com (another good resource for football related questions), and the Refs on there agreed with you, Michelle: drop ball.

So I will bow to your superior footballing knowledge, and admit that you were right and I was wrong.

In my defence, I first thought drop ball, then changed my mind on re-reading the rules. I think there is a certain amount of ambiguity that could possible do with being clarified.

And as far as I'm concerned, you're definately entitled to a Yorkie.

Cool

That is quite a relief to find that other refs agreed with me, I must be doing something right then.

Looks like a good site there, just having a browse through now. I'll see if I can become a panel member.

Okay, do you lot want some more scenarios....? dharbige.....no asking the ref first....

Cool

Interesting that their answer is similar to mine, but they haven't satisfied the absense of the drop ball if no offence has been committed against a member of the opposing team in any of the Laws.

This is definitely something I will pursue! I want answers damnit!
