Here goes .............. ALL my money ;o)
Purchased 2 chunks of " NYL6+30%G/F" today.
Glass fibre reinforced Nylon to the layman.
suitable for use all day at 120 degrees C
for short periods up to 180 degrees C
suitable for the job I think.
oh! £27.98 for those two bits measuring 220 x 95 x 15 mm.
This is for the insulation of the inlet manifold.
picking the bits up tomorrow, so pictures when I start machining it to size !

I woke this morning with a vey stupid idea.
well I'm moving the altenator and the power steering resevoir so it would be silly not to allow room for a front inlet.

Bit like Mr Gromitt's.
One problem though.
phase II maifold reduces it's size at the front.
It's got to be done.... Just a matter of how the **** I'm going to do it. not sure whether to laugh or cry ..... too much work!
..... good idea though!
right off to the workshop.... ****, clocks went forward this morning

Andy,
I've not read the whole thread, so forive me if I've missed something.
How are you sorting out bolting the phase one manifold to the phase two heads ? Also, if you have found a way, are you porting the heads to match the slightly different shape.
Mark.

Ahhhh Mark just the man I want a word with !!
Firstly ! nope, it's a phase 2 manifold just like the rest of it
Right! what I'm having a prob with, is the pressure reg I had off you,
see below.
not uploaded yet... but here's the link ... I'll upload it in just a sec...

I'm in the middle of writing up this weekends progress report it'll be up in a mo too.

right, here we go with this weekends hair pulling moments.
lagged the Up pipe.

fitted.

this will have to come off as I want to turn the comressor over to face out to the left.
I can't believe I'm taking a hacksaw to a brand new, rather expensive turbo
in Bits first.

holds breath.

ok that done and no dramas on to trial fitting it.
ahh FOUL (i knew it would foul, cheers Bob
)

a few mins with raining alumninium shards.

Trial fit in place. looking good, had to move power steering pump pipes a bit lower to make way for outlet.

On the inlet spacer side of things , setting out the holes,

position manifold on top an voil.....ARRRGGGGG.

start again
note 6mm packer under turbo now to lift it up away from inlet manifold and away from fuel rail also (just enough thread on studs of the up-pipe to allow for this.

back to the inlet manifold.

Get off.

that looks like I should get a nice pipe through there now.

oooh look what I managed to lay my hands on from out of the dairy

start hacking away till arms drop off (two hacksaw blades later)

coming along nicely,
a few scary moments wondering whether it was all worth it this morning

some more bits purchased

working on the manifold spacers.

and the inlet manifold.

Closer.

making spacer for up pipe / turbo fittment.

Off with the up pipe again for a bit of adjustment to match them up.

oh and tidy that fookin mess up as I can't find my tool box
