Here goes .............. ALL my money ;o)
Steven, I may actually get my car running in the next month or so, I'll see if we can creat wav file of it
If it's too loud I'll get a centre silencer added as well...
Andy, I posted the same pics in Drivetrain under the 2.5 to 3 inch exhaust comparison thread...that's where you saw waking the dead

What are the chances of getting an exhaust off Pat ASAP
is it all still in the development stage?
Are you a ginuea pig Tim ? (figuratively speaking
)
Looking to sart work on it this weekend
Just mailed him,

Andy, the exhaust was developed on Pat's sti 2 in it's previous lif as a 4 cylinder
Moray then took delivery of the first 'production' version, I think I had the next one...so yes, they are available from Pat
I think I'm prototyping his new modified downpipe...and the good news is that after a couple of days working on the car, all I need to do now is fit the repaired gearbox, design and build a remote power steering resovoir, design and make a new turbo inlet tract, fit the new injectors, make the parallel fuel rail mod, fit an adjustable fuel pressure reg, fit the Group N gearbox mount, fit the Group N engine mounts, re-fit the front lower wishbones, re-fit the lower cusco front chassis brace, remove the dash and fix the heater and finally take the car down to Barrett's to get the geometry set and the diff mounts replaced...then beg someone to re-map it...and it'll be running again
in time for me to embark on some bodywork fetling and interior redecorating
Should have it finished the evening before Elvington then

Can't find it anywhere.

Removed this tonight.....

So I could get to this :rolleyes;

had to come off anyway so not bothered !
Intercooler off,
fuel injectors off,
air box off,
alternator off,
exhaust system off, (sold to Paul
)
water drained,
etc, etc.
Underneath tomorrow night I think, for removal of sump tray and headers.
thinking of putting the pressure reg, over by the fuel filter. nothing wrong with piping the fuel over to there from the left bank of the fuel rail is there ?
Batteries flat in camera

still nothing arrived in the post, I've got a bit carried away with stripping everything off ready I think.
Where I had got to before Sunday..

Inlet manifold removed to gain access to turbo cold air inlet pipe.

Inlet pipe removed from underside of inlet manifold, looks like I will have to remove a few lugs if I want a 75mm dia inlet pipe to fit under, I intend on raising manifold with resin and glass blocks for both insulation and more room for inlet pipe.
fuel pipes ruunimg under manifold will no longer have support lugs to attatch to as they are being removed, so will have to remember to support them somhow to prevent from vibrating / chaffing.

Thought about knife-edging the port divider but far too much hassle with heads still on car (can't ensure swarf removal to be effective).

Power steering pump with reservoir drained.

Steering pump resevoir removed to see how to attatch plate and pipework for remote resevoir (moving out of the way of inlet pipe)

No wonder the little swine wouldn't come out with the manifold still attatched...

Paul,
I shant really be consentrating on the heads until the engine has to come out at a later date... (next phase)
the gaskets line up pretty well with the apeture of the port in the inlet manifold (and head for that matter).
very little work to be done there.
cheers for where to concentrate on, when the heads do come off though.

Funnily enough I just ported a phase 2 inlet manifold. Need to wait till engine is together then will match to heads, was about 1.5mm of lip on one edge with standard bolt holes. Possibly dowel to heads, but not so sure on expansion effects there.
Heads are pretty good as standard, and unless you have the heads out and stripped, don't bother doing any porting as the biggest gains are around the valve throat and guide.
If you want to do the manifold a 40mm flapper wheel can be pushed up into the port with some effort, then spins quite freely, after doing some work it will be a perfect size for the entry to the head.
Top tip for removing injectors, lots of WD40 into rails, and wiggle them up and down to work it in. Otherwise you might find they are dry and stuck pretty firm.

Or grab hold of them with a pair of mole grips, twist and yank like ****.
