Box is on, release bearing made a reasuring "click" when moved into play. Slave cyl attached and pedal feels gooooooooooood.

Must be in then !

P.s the box slid STRAIGHT ON ( I left the bottom studs in position)

Like the girl with no legs.... Jammy c***

Right, back to the ancillaries now

Not sure whether to laugh or cry !

Now I'm sure as I ever can be that the clutch is on correctly !

One problem......

It still slips ???????????

Andy

Wondering now if there were any clips (like on the older vauxhalls) that had to be removed to allow full pressure of cover against plate.

Mark.... where do I go from here. are you interested in taking a look ??

there are no clips as per vauxhall..

besides if you start a vauxhall with them on they smash the bellhousing..

odd..

if you want to share ideas.. 07788 577836

Didn't have any brake cleaner, used some brush cleaner (that light blue stuff), seemed to pull the goo off ok. bollox !
I will pull all apart again tomorrow and inspect.
(assuming no one wants to take a test drive)

driven plate might be in need of a wire brush then. LOL

Conditions it slips under are
any more than 1/4 throttle with boost climbing above 1.0 BAR
not sure about revs, was concentrating on boost gauge and where I was going.
Will video the whole situation tomorrow eve before I pull it apart.

Thanks for the quick replies chaps.

Sorry David, Re-built PC this evening after work too, barely up and running so hence no MSN yet !
(made a RAID array )

thinking thinking and more thinking this morning.

I am 1000000000001% sure I cleaned the flywheel....
However I have no recolection of cleaning the cover plate.

Repeat after me, "Andy is a ****."

It HAS to be that....

Thanks for the chat today Mark, much appreciated your there when things take a turn for worse....
Good to see a supplier back his products up with excellent customer service !

Birthday tomorrow, so may take the day off and hit the garage.
(how sad is that)

Maybe not.....

Smoked the clutch in the driveway to try and burn some of that goo off if there was any on there. seems better

Very hard to tell though as boost is still wild and I'm feathering the throttl;e to keep in check (trying to anyway)

Would the lighter flywheel make an large amout of difference in the ECU's ability to control boost ?

did a peak reading check and erm...

Your braking distance looks a little tight to avoid the rear wall of the workshop...

I've had chance to get a few of my rotund friends to sit in on the action, load the car up and I can confirm the clutch is no longer slipping after some major abuse over the last two nights...

However I need to be taken away and shot...

(and have the car keys prised from my still twitching fingers.)
see below.

note to self... CHECK GAUGES MORE OFTEN !

Andy

Just need it mapped now before I kill it !

Andy,

That EGT appears to be SERIOUSLY high. Where is it being measured.

I'd be VERY careful until you get it addressed, along with the boost.

Mark.

Question

Andy

This may be a silly question, have you had the ecu mapped for this turbo/boost ?

Andy,

Sort of

started mapping all the new mods but clutch let go during mapping.

Now with lightened flywheel and up rated clutch I need to go back.
looks like Bobs gonna need to start again, boost can be controlled FULLY with throttle.... bad move with me behind the wheel

Since it was only mapped up to 1 bar (clutch letting go at 1.2) suggest you see sense before you blow your engine, appreciating the enthusiasm, of course, but sense should prevail else you will be another 12 months before getting it sorted.

Its sheer lunacy to boost a Uk engine to that level, assuming you want at least some use from it, and, if your egt's are true (!!!) then you will/could already have damaged something, turbo is "good" to 1000 deg C. If thats what the temp was as described you have exceeded its rating. Hopefully you changed the oil and filter straight afterwards, if not suggest doing so straight away.

cheers

Bob
