Will both of you please give it a rest?
Christ on a bike.
Bitching about this, that and the other on here isn't really going to get a whole lot achieved, now is it?

Tragedy's are tragedys. The loss of the Space Shuttle came as a shock. But these people knew the risks they were taking. News is what sells newspapers and the space shuttle was newsworthy for many reasons. Not least because it transpires that maybe it was past it's sell by date. There were reports today that some chips manufactured in the 70's were no longer available and had to be purchased over ebay!
I watched the first space shuttle launch in 1981. It is no longer the pinnacle of human endeavour. If the money was freely available to NASA I'm sure they could build something vastly better.
As for Katana's comments about 9/11, we all heard jokes about 9/11 we'll no doubt here them about the space shuttle (as we did the last time) but Katana's comments went beyond humour. Although I didn't know anyone personally my old boss lives in a small town just outside New York. The town lost 74 people in 9/11. So many children motherless or fatherless... school pickup time has changed for ever.

'Nope I'm still sticking to my guns that the Space shuttle was a bigger tragedy. And trying to twist my words?'
But no-one is twisting you're words. You actually said that the ppl who died in 9/11 were some businessman intent on making money dying driven by greed.
And do you're friends in Israel think the Palestinians deserve to die?

I do agree with some of what you say in other posts. However:
I am sorry mate, but you can't paint the shuttle as a worse tragedy. You appear to be basing this opinion on the fact that the lives of those people in the twin towers were worth less than those in the space shuttle as they were "businessman intent on making money dying driven by greed", as opposed to the shuttle crew who were working for the good of mankind. Tell me if I'm wrong about that, but mate, you cannot be serious surely? Have you really though about that? I didn't see the original thread so don't know if the quote is out of context.
Let's assume that you can judge people's value by how greedy they are, how many greedy lives are equal to a non-greedy life? It would have to be, what, about 500 to one for the shuttle tragedy to be equally tragic? How can you assume that everyone in the towers were bad greedy people, and that those in the shuttle were not? How do you measure what is a good person, and what is not? How can you assume that the shuttle mission was really completely for the benefit of mankind? How can you say that the towers was less of a tragedy than the shuttle, even though that part of N.York is the beating heart of the economy that builds and supports the shuttle missions?
You have not one leg to stand on I'm afraid. They are both tragedies, but the shuttle pales into insignificance next to the WTC.
Feel free to explain yourself further.

Well said Tractor. Talking sense for a change (dont bite...just a sarcastic inane comment!)
What chambers are you a member of old bean?
And Katana stop digging that hole any bigger and for once admit that was a senseless comment to make. Remember Jesus wept!

No offence Shrek, I know you've been waiting for the right opportunity to say something nice to me
I'm not at a chambers (not a barrister). Used to work at a Law firm in N. London but won't mention any names as some of my other posts could get me into trouble. Then did 2 years in a software company. Currently based at Nottingham University doing an LL.M in Public International Law.

Sorry Katana but if you think that 7 people getting killed in a glorified plane crash is in some way a bigger tragedy than the twin towers (3000 odd dead) and it's knock on effects (The "war on terror", Afghanistan, Kenya and the forthcoming festivities in Iraq) then may I suggest that you are perhaps the uneducated one?

Agree with previous post.
WTF has space brought mankind as a positive outsome anyway?
The frigging teflon frying pan, thats what. And Kevlar brake pads - and they are crap anyway - right?
Katana its all about defence, and global domination, and how to keep those pesky highly untrustworthy Russian rocket boffins away from weapons.............whilst they work on a "useful" project...ha ha!
I *suppose* the space programme is worth a mere $100Bn dollars over the next 3 years? Like **** it is!
What about all those starving ethnic types?
And out own poor?
And our underfunded hospitals? etc etc.
Saint aka Werner Von Braun (never have been and never will be a member of the **** party)

Getting back on topic.
People on SN are not entitled to their views.
Unless:
(a) They are PC
(b) They conform
(c) They say sweet nothings to each other
(d) No one cries to their mummy or daddy
Bit of a damp squib tbo tho sometimes, but hey, its nice to be nice, lol.

You are entitled to your views as long as they are not offensive, which in todays crazy pc world means... keep your f**king trap shut if you don't think like the majority(no offence intended)..ok,an exageration but not by THAT much,it's a sad situation.(this thread is not, NOT,meant to support blatently stupid views)

Nope I'm still sticking to my guns that the Space shuttle was a bigger tragedy. And trying to twist my words? I'm just thinking that you guys have ran out of ammo since I posted some proof of the C-18 and BNP involvement with each other. Oh well, keep trying harder boys..
Oh the only death that I laugh about was when that Combat-18 guy getting killed in jail for preaching his sh*te. It is the epitome of comedy. If anymore of his group suffers from the same death, I'd find it even more funnier. My friends in Israel says it too. ***** don't deserve life or will anyone argue with that too?
