yes redkop is 100% spot on but if opyu speak to amber performance they sell a replica of the rondell made by the company who bought the wheel mould from rondell

why does the car look sort of orange or is it just the effect of a digi cam!

kungfu the best show of the year would be RS Owners National Day at Donington on Sunday, 17 August. Lots come over from Ireland for this show. Also there are numerous shows through the summer organised by the various RS Regional Groups.

There are also shows in Ireland as well. Can give you a contact number if you like.

I know they're fast and stuff, but i seriously dont see the attraction of a Ford escort, I mean, a Ford escort or Sierra isnt a good looking car, so how does an enormous spoiler, or funny front lights make it look any better? or is it purely an engineering "nice looking" people refer to?

Not trying to start an argument, but can a Ford escort seriously ever be called a beautifuly designed car, no matter how big the wing is?

MHO applies.

PS: I do understand the concept of the eye of the beholder, but a Ford Escort just sint a WOW car, lets face it, you can put Anne Widcombe in a pretty dress, but I aint gonna pull her...

TBH I can't see anything that makes the Scoob anything special. To me its just a four-door saloon with a few extras. Nothing eye-catching about it at all. So it's what's in the eye of the beholder - isn't it? If it wasn't, we would all be clones

Very well said Redkop

I can GUARANTEE that if you take the Red Cossie and a done up Impreza, and drove both down the street at the same time, MORE PEOPLE would say "fu*k check out the red cossie thats lush!"

Not the impreza....its been proven....sorry....

I agree, a classic scoob is sooooooooo boring and dull. Its built like it should be french I like scoobs though, low insurance great drive, cheap power but I would rather an Escort cossie every time. A Escort Cossie and Escort have very very little in common where as a non-turbo bog std scoob has very much in common with the turbo version.

Yeah, scoobs arent very good looking at all either, I must admit, thats one of the reasons ive never bothered with one, but I wasnt saying scoobs are good looking and Escorts not, I was just saying Escorts arent, no comparisons or anything.
The Ford Escort shape isnt bad, its just strange to hear it being proclaimed as beautiful of wow when it really doesnt have any great style to it is all.

Nice enough car thou, bet it shifts just a little!!

SideShow, thats just your opinion as u quite rightly stated, but there's plenty of people who differ from your opinion....including me, several others on this thread, and the fact that good Cosworths hold their money well .

Most mass production sports cars stem from a boring family version, so to state 'how can an Escort' because of this, be smart etc could be applied to most sports cars.

The 3 doors and Escorts will reach classic status, the 3 door is already there with good examples starting to go up in value. Will your car do the same?

I don't know aboput all that though.

When I was a little lad at school, I remember seeing an Escort Cossie parked outside. We came out at 4 p.m., and by 4.15, there were loads of us, all crowding round it staring in awe! This was in 93, so they were fairly new.

The reason they turn heads so much, is countrywide, they are still fairly rare. You hardly ever see one on the road (cue Fix or Repair Daily jokes), whereas the Scoob is a victim of it's own success.

Unfortunately, the scoob is the new saff cossie.

I think the problem also goes along the lines of that when the Impreza came out, they were lovely / different and looked great from the normal cars u seen going about.

But they have flooded the market with imprezas now, and u see them everyday, u dont see an Escort Cosworth everyday....and thats why people still prefer the looks of them....the "rare" factor.

I suppose it generates something a lot more than visual appreciation, I know what you mean about the way you think of cars you really wanted when you were younger, and the Escort Cossie is still very much the car a lot of people grow up admiring.

If you look at it from purely an aesthetics approach, I suppose it doesnt appeal, as its not what you would normally call an amazing car shape, and as I never wanted one at any point, I suppose thats what im doing.
I know how dated a Countach looks to most people, but I had a poster of one on my wall, and when I look at them now, I still think they look amazing, same sort of thing I guess.

Yeah i would say the "bedroom poster effect" has a lot to do with it.

Hold on...how does an escort cossie look like a normal escort....
The front wing just sits out a 'tad' more than an ordinary one, the quarter panel is totally different, bumpers, skirts etc...etc... I have had an sti type-r scoob, which i liked alot....but there are more and more getting about, especially over here. Unless you have a 22B, no-body really looks twice....it's a wide thing ....and the dash lights up nicer (michael )

Yes, bumper, skirts, all glued to what looks like an Escort, it hides it a bit, but its still the general body shape, come on, we're not talking Ferrari F40 here, they're not the best looking cars from a looks perspective, but they are legendary none the less, I just find it strange that people comment about how nice they look is all, so asked about it.

A Rover 820Si, I bought it for its flowing good looks well, actually bought it cause its cheap!!

Looking for a Escort Cossie rear wing for it, lol.

Had an Integra Type-R before that (Rover is a temporary car, thank god!! 3rd Gen RX7 on its way) so Im well accustomed to having a car that outperforms its looks, and im not a Audi TT type person, as in like all looks above ability or anything.
I actually liked the looks of the Teg, nobody else did, but hey, I dont like the looks of the Escort, and most other people do, I probably dont have very good taste
