John,
Dont worry about it! It's all banter, but anybody who REALLY thinks a Cossie or Scooby is crap, is a proper idiot......and believe they exist!
Both cars have there strengths and weaknesses, and as an everyday car I think the Scooby has the edge.
The fact that my 325bhp Escort Cossie is evenly matched against a modded 2.2ltr £30,000.00+ Scooby is nothing to be sniffed at!!!!!
BHP figures dont mean ****, its how the car drives on the road that counts!!! If a 250bhp 22b cant get past me, you'd expect a 300bhp modded STi to, well believe me, it cant!!!! But in the same breath, I can't p1ss past the formentioned cars either! This only signifies how much the BHP mean (especially with the 22b)......not much!!!!
IntegraR,
How can you comment on Cossies??? When you own a sub 200bhp, wheezing naturally aspirated hair dryer!!!!!
Shaun.

All this p***-taking of Cossies is a bit unfair guys. Show some respect for the definitive performance saloon, besides, i`m getting grief from my son (who owns an imaculate 4x4 Sapphire) whenever he reads the slander!
You must remember Cossie lumps can handle 350+bhp without internal strengthening (they were originally built with 400+bhp and de-tuned for use in the production car) Try that with a u.k. Scooby!!
As a top chip-meister said to me when I proudly showed him my Impreza "you must remember a Cosworth is a de-tuned race/rally engine with a lot of margin, a Subaru is basically a tuned shopping trolley" A bit cruel perhaps but a certain ring of truth?
The forthcoming Focus Cossie will be a cracker?
JohnD (Flame proof suit donned!)

Yes, granted and I agree, however these circa 400bhp cossies 'just' manage to keep up with the 280bhp models....
Just ask messers Harj and Shaun. 250bhp (after being rolling roaded with a link-safe map) and Shaun 350bhp genuine escort cos!Pound for pound they are matched (according to a report from the daily harj!)
Its not micky taking just friendly banter. We all know a cossies good for big power I have myself been in a saph 4x4 with 450bhp. Great car and felt as safe as houses, however not as reliable as my standard 280bhp scoob.
Tell you son to lighten up, I myself like cossie and there is a certain chap on this BBS has a cossie lump in a westfield!
Now as for the shopping trolley comment but fairly true
LOL
Now, off you pop before the boys get hold of ya!

Yeah, but its still a Ford.
"The forthcoming Focus Cossie will be a cracker"
Even worse, it will still be a Ford Focus.

Deserve everything they get, posting about 80s technology on a different manufacturers fans BBS.
IntegraR :
Yeah, but its still a Ford.
Nuff said really.
JohnF had the right idea.
Ford Cossies. Nice engine, shame about the other 99%.

Oh, and as for :
"Show some respect for the definitive performance saloon" I think most people did when spender was on telly.
I think that statement is now owned by the M5. Its a tank, but a very very fast tank, that handles! (God and I really hate BMWs!)

"IntegraR,
How can you comment on Cossies??? When you own a sub 200bhp, wheezing naturally aspirated hair dryer!!!!!"
Sub 200HP and sub 7 secs too
Normally Aspirated is an engineering marvel, no Turbo Lag, no Turbo problems, and yes, that lovely high pitched squeel, like a Pigeon being raped by an Elephant.
I know, to hang with the big boys, I would probably need to bolt a Turbo on there, but it'll never happen. Ill stay NA as long as poss.
The new Civic Type-R later this year is going to have 220BHP from a NA 2.0 litre engine, and then you want to bring your petrol gouging, high maintainance costing, Turbo Lagged, First On Rubbish Dump motor round my way?
Okay, so you'll still beat me, but my car is able to impersonate both a hair dryer and a sewing machine, and no Cossie I know of can do both of those things as convincingly.
PS: "and then you want to bring your petrol gouging, high maintainance costing, Turbo Lagged First On Rubbish Dump motor round my way?"
that was meant in a matey kind of way, so dont get too agro when reading it.

I heard an Integra coming up from behind the other day starting off (on foot) to work and I thought he was thrashing it... it then went pootling past at 25mph, obviously waiting for his engine to warm over..
must sound great went going for it!
I've a high power NA engine too - my best analogy is the three tenors, ***** all in vices - gargling through megaphones.. ahhhh ...petrol head music.. luvverly

'tuned shopping trolley' - so what does that make the Escort and the Sierra???
In truth most cars of this type have fairly humble origins - I wouldn't take any of this too seriously though - we're all car nuts, just with different tastes in cars

Robski,
I'll take you out in it tomorrow whatever the weather, on the proviso that you don't squeal like a woman again...! If it's wet you'll just have to suffer low boost, but don't worry, it still wheelspins in third...
LOL

If this is basically the same engine as the S2000 it will be the hardest work hatchback around
Having driven both the Integra Type R and S2000, they are both great cars, but the problem with such high power from NA VTEC engine is they are virtually undrivable in the real world, due to peak power at 8/9000 rpm, and nothing below 5/6k Great on a track, but try keeping an S2000 above 6000rpm on the road!! you will last 5 minutes before settling back into granny-driving-mode.
Give me c280lb ft torque at 3500-4000 rpm and c280BHP at 5500-6000 rpm anyday (as long as its not got a blue oval badge on it )

Well I drive mine everyday, and I enjoy winding an engine. I like the feeling of actually driving the car skillfully to reap the rewards, and you would be surprised how far behind a rep mobile is left once you have learnt the ins and outs of the car.
It really is the most track ready car Ive ever driven, and it has lots of hiden rewards.
But if you like to cruise along without winding the engine, thats fine, but for me, I love having a car that is built to perform when pushed hard.
I hit the red line many times a day, even going to the shops I find a stretch I can open up on, and it makes me smile every time.

JohnD,
Like the guyz say it`s all jus good crack m8,
But hey theres a lotta truth in it m8, I an probably a lot of other scoob owners could admit 2 being asked by cossie drivers to "miss a gear will ya" on 1/4 & track dayz. Theres a lot o truth in the fact that BHP doesnt mean jack **** if u cant transfer it to the road I couldnt tell ya what BHP my WRX is running but it`ll do a 1/4 in 12.8 an I aven`t started on it yet. If u can get a hold of Revs July 2000 give u r snapper a read of the article Cossies vs Imprezas. Dunno but from it I deduced that cossies are good @ blowin up an not much else The ending statement of the article reads "Imprezas kick cossies ****, mostly"

Cossies are poo, and you can tell your son that I said so! Saff's are the worst of all and aren't even worth the effort, and you can tell your son I said that as well!!
Perhaps we should visit the RS board and politely ask them not to make fun of Scoobies????
Stef The Cossie Killer.
PS Shaun, that's all well and good, but you couldn't even keep a measly 230bhp UK Scoob behind you on track, unless you want to prove otherwise?

IntegraR you ******* got my started thinking about the typer again...
Having gone from a typer to the subaru I do miss the rush. Granted your not accelerating as fast as the scoob, but it sure does make you smile
I recently test drove two MY00 honda typers but was very disappointed in their condition, basically its very hard to find a good example here. Enjoy your integra I know I would.

Some Cossies are good and some are bad I think, it all comes down to the spec and who created the spec, lot of good and lots of bad tuners out there!
I have to admit that Saphire Cossies are the worst ones cus I nearly bought one a while back when looking for a cheap track car
I then woke up (Insurance), but thanks to me old man a RS200 is appearing Is this classed as a Cossy??? with 575BHP ??

Oh well - my car is just the shed then
Funny as saffs are twice the car that the 3 door is due to structural reasons but you lot are such know alls you dont need told that.
My car is only 290bhp so it will be interesting to see how it does on track Funny - as a stage 1 chip job it held off a 2nd in championship Evo 4 rallycar round knockhill that was suited favourably to the evo. It goes slightly better now with its 290hp.
Back to your amatuer front drive shafts IT boys

I dont thing a Astra would be quite as sub 7 as my teg, and as for cornering, well, you know.
Mark, I know what you mean about condition, and in a very similar way to Scoobies, there are huge price differences in what are very similar models.
Mine is mint, it had 12000 miles on when I bought it, and is perfect inside and out. I was lucky, a few examples I test drove were shoddy, even at Honda dealerships, and yet they cost more (?).
I kept looking until I found one I felt was worth the money, some car dealers dont even try, there is a good one at Whitehouse Honda, Bexleyheath, where I got mine, and they tend to have cars in very good condition on the lot, in case you're after the old "it revs to 9000!!" smile again.
Bet you're happy with the Scooby though, I love them, and they are always a contender to pull me away from the Honda camp.
