Server didn't really bat an eyelid

Raising the cache from 4Mb to 32Mb (I need an unreal admin course
) got rid of the lag at the beginning of a game.Cheers all.
Next wednesday anyone ?

Lee,
what time do you think you cured the lag?
My was awful till about 9.30 when I had to drop out. It was very very choppy
it may have been the PC I was having to use.
Will have to rebuild my netpc to 98SE to allow me to use internet sharing, Im just hoping that it doesnt increase lag!
at least I would have a decent mouse, and sound!
Liked the first CTF, got either 2 or 3 of the flags for the red team
it was a good night

What name were you using ?

Where is the server located ? - Is there a best ISP to dial into to be as close to the server as possible network wise ....
After I got bored of being killed every thirty seconds - I spectated for a while .... Very instructive....I have a lot of practice to do
I did get a flag though..And fragged a few people when they were silly enough to stand around chatting about server caches in the middle of Deathmatch

Lag at the start of each level was bad, but it sounds like you got it sorted.
Had a couple of games (read: got shown up!
) before the 'phone started playing up. I noticed that most people had pings in the 40-60 range, I guess I'd better sort out a cable solution at home!!
Cheers for setting it up Lee, I will try to join in again in the future.

Hiya all
although increasing cache sizes seemed to do the trick with the lag I did some searching this morning and surprise surprise - there is a known issue with UT running on Win2K.

Good fun last night.
Lag was terrible for the first few minutes of the level but then my ping was around 60ms (not too bad for dial-up ISDN on BT Internet Free).
I'll be there next week!

I didn't notice too much lag, apart from one one level at the start. Mind you, that was my first ever attempt at playing on-line, and I've not played the game for about 2 hours in total.
I too was complete connon fodder, and it wasn't until the end of my session that I found out you could jump, which made a bit of a difference on the "Morpheus" scenario (I think I "fell a long way" about a dozen times!).
Great fun though, and I'll be back for more next week

I can see you playing but I can't join
Demo version - no good.
Version 400 - no good.
But my proper version should be arriving Thursday or Friday which I can upgrade to version 436.
Lee, any chance you could bring the server up most evenings ?
Looking forward to the killing.
Kevin.
