So..who's up for one ?

if it proves popular then we could schedule in regular sessions on our OWN servers.

The Game of Kings.

Neil Smalley 22 December 2000 10:08 PM

I'll give it a go. I've gotta warn you i'm the original muppet computer game player

Kevin Greeley 22 December 2000 10:28 PM

"I just wasted that guy" http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Great idea !

What's the server address ?

When ?

Kevin
"Useless !"

Lee 23 December 2000 12:55 AM

Well realistically nothing is going to happen until the fat man in a red coat has been and gone.

What I would suggest is that at the agreed time, we find a server which has no-one on it, let me know and I'll post the server name etc on a web page somewhere.

If anyone has any other ideas about how to go about this let me know cos I'm no UT expert... just a damn fine shot from 200ft with a sniper rifle http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

ChrisB 23 December 2000 11:24 AM

Sounds good to me.

When and where?

Chris.

RichB 23 December 2000 01:26 PM

Are we talking about playing the full version http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif or the cheapskate tightwad demo version http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ?
I'll be well up for anything on the Demo version especially InstaGib Capture the Flag...

Great idea Lee!

boxst 24 December 2000 12:26 PM

Sounds good to me!

Let me know when!

Steve

A few of us at work are thinking about buying a dedicated box to put on our leased line for a private UT / Quake server.

We were going to split the cost between each of us and have our own server to make finding each other easier.

Anyone else interested in this idea? Obviously, the more people who are in, the cheaper it gets. We are going to try to setup a test box some people can test the speed / ping from home before buying anything (my ping from home to our router is 40ms).

Cheers,

Chris.

I'm definately up for a good 'ol shoot 'em up.... let us know the time & IP address. Usually go under the name skOOby..
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif see u there...

JohnS 29 December 2000 08:46 AM

Sounds like I'll need to get around to installing UT then http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Never played it before, but I'm game to be shot at for a while http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Neil Smalley 29 December 2000 09:43 AM

I'm up for a quick blast. Just lemmie know the dates and times. Sat Eve's are bad nights for me but Tues is better.

I think UT is fairly kind on networks but one thing to be aware of is your phone bill if you are playing it a lot. You could always use this server as a counterstrike, half life or other such games server if there's enough room. Hey, maybe even multiplayer racing games?

AndrewW 29 December 2000 09:50 AM

Sounds good, but will this work with the demo version ?

Also, I assume that we would all need to be on the same version of the software. 3.48 seems to be the demo version currently available.

How about this weekend, it being a long one and all ...

Andrew.

OK

having tried to arrange a simple (you would think) get together of 3 people that was difficult enough ! (What with the masses of server names etc etc)

So.. we now have a dedicated unreal server just for our exclusive use courtesy of yours truly. Makes life dead easy cos all you do is go to the Multiplayer menu, click on "Open Location" and bung in unreal.siwd.net (password protected of course!)

So the next step is to see what sort of cost this is going to knock up (in terms of network usage)

I was thinking of having a get together at an arranged time, saturday evening would be cool but some of you might be worktime blasters http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

let me know.

Scrappy2 29 December 2000 04:30 PM

Nice little shoot 'em up this afternoon - thanks Lee...

robski 02 January 2001 01:41 PM

Damm it!

Missed this http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

is another one going to happen?

did you have problems with patches?

robski

Lee 02 January 2001 01:55 PM

Got some new kit going to telehouse v.soon.

Then I'll let the UT server run all the time http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

No problems with patches and with about 8 players a 0.9% cpu load http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif nice.

Lee 07 January 2001 05:22 PM

Tonight anyone ? we have a few takers already.

unreal.siwd.net is the server we'll be battling on http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

ChrisB 07 January 2001 05:27 PM

What time?

Chris.

Lee 07 January 2001 05:32 PM

robski 08 January 2001 08:15 AM

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif Smeg, missed it again http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Lee, hows about more notice next time!?

Or maybe we could have an email list of all interested parties? I checked my mail and scoobynet about 7 last night, but missed this post http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

robski

Scrappy2 08 January 2001 09:35 AM

Oh nuts - missed it - shame cos the last one was good - Like the idea of an email list.... next time... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

ChrisB 08 January 2001 12:52 PM

Sorry, couldn't make it...

NFL Sunday with my team (the Giants) playing (and winning http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif)

How about a session one night this week?

Chris.

Lee 08 January 2001 01:47 PM

This wednesday at 7:30 PM onwards.

unreal.siwd.net is the server we will be using. Before 7:30 it won't work as I have to stoke the boiler and fire up the beast http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I'll email everyone who's shown an interest !

robski 08 January 2001 02:12 PM

Lee,

Ive got a few mates who may be interested.
Are we open to a few extras?

robski

Lee 08 January 2001 02:44 PM

Oh yes the more the merrier. Just need to make sure we use large enough maps for the amount of geezers.

robski 08 January 2001 02:57 PM

Never played UT on line before
how to do we communicate?

if we get enough peeps, a decent capture the flag would be excellent!

robski

Lee 08 January 2001 03:04 PM

Once you've connected to the server, use the Talk function (press T) to send a message to everyone.

funniest comment last night was getting back to base and "Doh! we seem to be missing one flag"
