The reason that sugar free mints and also jam give you the farts is that they use Sorbitol as a sweetener, which is also a mild laxative.

I find that many pints of Fosters (the lager not the Scoobynetter) and Carlsberg make me bubble like a volcano. Like i am at the moment.

Judging by my 7mo daughters efforts baby food is pretty effective!! Farts in her sleep.... That's my girl!
