Can someone explain the flame thing to me?

AFAIK if you have flamage with pops and bangs, then this could be bad in the long run. The shock wave from the flame/bang goes back up the exhaust and hits the turbo in the reverse direction and tries to stall it. Also, washing more fuel down the cylinder bores doesn't help either.
It's possible to convert the std BOV to VTA by disconnecting the hose and blanking it on the turbo i/c pipe side.
I'm not an expert here but I remember a post about it a while back, so please someone correct me if I've got it wrong.
To guarantee flames you will have to install a spark plug in the back box.

Hey gravelexpress
Well the rallying with the escky started off good, until I started breaking halfshafts and bearings....
changed the english axle for a stronger Atlas one with lots of other bits (updates on the site l8er tonight) until I slid a little wide and bent it!! along with splitting 2 spokes on the rim!!
Thanks for the nice comments on the website! keep coming back !

I run a catless exhaust system but a very restrictive one due to problem with noise and the law. The downpipe is 3" and mated to a 2.5" stock centre pipe and GC8 STi muffler. ECU is stock and SARD externally venting BOV.
What I am about to reveal will be a shocker! Not only does my exhaust flame, it also also EXPLODES! We're talking about grenade loud explosions. I once stopped an inter-precint POLICE soccer match and spectators stood up to see what was happening. Birds that are perched on neighbouring trees flew off, neighbouring cars unaware of the source of the noise thought their tyres blew!
Best part of this is I can product the explosions ON DEMAND so i should becareful when i do this (wouldn't want it going off and causing an accident). I love it when someone is tailgating me and wanting to race - usually takes just one explosion and they back off.
The whole idea behind the loud explosions is due to the massive backpressure caused by the STi muffler. Back when I was running a 3" Fujitsubo FGK (and that's 3" all the way from turbo back) at best it spits huge flames and pops but nothing like the current setup. Simply phenomenal! :-)

Just Fitted a Forge Dump Valve two weeks ago, it was worth for the grin on my face the first time it flamed!!!! And the look on my mates faces when I took them out.
I am running a full decat system SS DP and centre, plus Magnex Back box plus K&N.
Give it a go just for the grin factor

Someone earlier mentioned being able to hear the flames.......... Guess what I heard today pop, pop, bang, pop, pop, WHOOOOOSH,bang
Christ knows how i did it, just come off a dual carrigeway, slowed down for roundabout (pop, pop, bang bit ) 10 mph , roundabout clear, booted on first, aggressive change to second and as the clutch bit and the accelerator got nailed....WHOOOSH Massive
Must have flamed.
Mikey
Happy, but now wondering if Octane Booster had anything to do with it
