Did you end up getting a new turbo?

If not, have you seen the new G series units from Garrett? A guy in my local WRX club swapped out a GTX3076 (Gen 1) 0.64 a/r for a G25-660 0.92a/r on a 2.0L (rotated setup), makes 100kw extra at 4700rpm over the old turbo. They are GT28 sized turbos, and spool as such, but flow more like the GT30's. I reckon it would go well on a 2.1!

Red line is the G25, and blue the GTX3076 - this run is on 29ps (2 bar). Not sure if your bhp is at the fly, but this turbo is making 440hp at the wheels on a low reading dyno in Sydney.

Looks like a killer turbo!

I ender up with a gtx3071r kit I bought off a guy here on SN..

not fitted yet, need another Ecu, because no one in Denmark can map Alcatek ecu.. once everything is fitted I will post in this thread again with my results :-)

How much torque is that 2.0 making!!

From what i know

BHP = Torque x RPM / 5252

But 775 x 5,094 / 5252 = 751bhp @ 5,094 rpm

Graph says peak of 330.6 Kw

331Kw is 443bhp


Whats going on why doesn't the math add up ?

Was this Dyno run in 1st gear ??

Even if we use the lower one which says 975NM @ 5283rpm

We all know that @ 5252rpm ftlbs & bhp is equal

Above 5252rpm More Bhp than Torque

Below 5252rpm more torque than bhp.

975nm = 719 ft/lbs

So at 5283rpm it should have more than 719bhp......

This makes no sense to me ?

330kw is nowhere near 719bhp

I haven't got an exact answer. There's another dyno is Sydney that reads very high on torque values (650nm on a VF35). I believe it reading tractive effort and not a correct derived torque. Best off calculating it yourself.

It's reading roller torque, not derived torque... Obviously a 2.0L won't make this much torque. A setting on the dyno is not ticked to print out the recalcuted torque value.

I didn't know this rule for HP and ft/lbs for 5252rpm. I checked against my dyno graph (a Dynapack Hub dyno) and it works. (160kw/290NM = 213HP/214ft/lbs). The two high reading torque figures I've mentioned are both off Mainline dyno's. You just have to ignore the torque figure on this plot, and look at the graph only to show the difference in turbos.

In reality this car would be making 400-450ft/lbs based on the rule above.

The new Garrett does look interesting and could be my next turbo choice....what would the flywheel figures be?

It is clear tho that its a superior snail

That extra spooly goodness is there to see

and if u look at gains as % instead of numbers its still looking really well.

just curious as to the logic behind the dyno.

must be another calc done to bring that torque back to reality
