So Brexit seems to be a good thing then.

I was talking to a Brexiteer pensioner who now lives in Spain. He said that he and his pensioner missus have contributed to the economy of Spain by buying a property there, and that's why they have a right to remain there; merit or not with not knowing a word of Spanish and offering no skills to do anything there. They just potter about and do some gardening for themselves there. Perhaps growing tomatoes or something for fun.

at least the pensioner couple are spending thier own EARNED money in spain not BLAGGED money like the economic migrants who roll up pennyless cap in hand and just a second thought how many as a percentage above the age of 55 of our own economic migrants actually bother to learn english, lefties these days ime supprised they manage to do anything they are so full of self critism and disbelief and pc nonsense, in fact they probably even argue and preach with themselves

Yes, I remember it well. He said something like that about him owning a property in France and living there half the year or so.
There is a thought.
We really are a selfless bunch us Brits, I don't know what the world would do with out us.

yes, with our and the Americans hawkish and misguided middle eastern foreign policy we stir up a hornets nest
the Mainland Europe seemed to get the brunt of the blowback - whilst we fvck off
but with the chairman of BMW heading the negotiations we are going to get a really great deal

Personally I think it's just another con to make the rich richer and the poor poorer, I'm sure our puppet masters are making a very large fortune out of the de-valuation of the pound.

with the resignation of our ambassador to the EU (for simply explaining the difficulties), it must be a fascinating time to be in Government / Power
Existing times ahead!!!!!

Wonder what the slimey bugger is up to these days, he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth since he threw the country under the bus.

lol, the last time I heard him
he was on Radio 4 - where he was explaining why he should be part of some liaison role for the Trump administration
he said that he could smooth the wheels, make things happen in those smoke filled and secretive rooms where "deals" are done
yuh know - coz that's how it all works
oh the irony, isn't that what he complained about regarding the EU
back room deals etc

I'm fed up with Duncan Smith moaning about who is going to fly the British Flag. I'd like to call his bluff and see how he gets on with getting 27 nations to agree. Wouldn't have a f,ucking snowball's.
And I want someone important to argue that the British people have changed their minds and the Brexit ********* no longer represent the will of the majority.
I don't think HMG will ever get to agree a satisfactory settlement. This is all way above May's intellect as she flounders about.

On one hand I'm happy that the Americans regained their title of most stupid citizens on the other I'm scared.
Oh well, at least once we're out May can bring back the workhouse, pretty sure The Donald and Putin will support her.

interesting comments from Phil Hammond
especially in light of May's speech and the expectation we are going for a hard Brexit
"In this case, we could be forced to change our economic model and we will have to change our model to regain competitiveness. And you can be sure we will do whatever we have to do.
"The British people are not going to lie down and say, too bad, we've been wounded. We will change our model, and we will come back, and we will be competitively engaged."

in my experience when people talk about economic competitiveness - it is simply short hand for (even) lower wages, sh1tter employment terms etc etc
but maybe he has another plan
I have mentioned before about a race to the bottom
anyway a fascinating couple of years coming up tbh

Perhaps you were editing it, and that's why I couldn't see it. I don't know.
Yes, in all honesty, there is no other choice but to change the economic model. As we talked before, we can't have our cake and eat it. If we don't get the access to the single market, we will have to make some harsh adjustments within ourselves.
Metaphorically speaking, When people don't have anything else coming in to eat, people start to eat each other. Well, unless our new economic model involves the pastures new; not just to explore but to do definite fair and square give-n-take with. Perhaps we will massively raise the cost of what the single market depends on us for? It's all about survival.
I can see the loaf of bread getting even more expensive and wages dropping. Aldi and LIDL will also become dear.
We will see what the new strategy will involve. I can't see us sustaining our access to the single market in the same way. It when we are out.
