So Brexit seems to be a good thing then.

This is an interesting case and could set a precedent for holding people in public office to account for what they say!

Also looking at the research from several journalists about the litigator, one might think this line from the link had a lot to do with it
The DPP can stop a private prosecution if he concludes it's vexatious, malicious or flawed for a range of other reasons
I suspect once both sides arguments are presented the matter will fizzle away. Possibly leaving the young man with a costs application against him

Quite, I can think of long list of politicians that have either lied, misled or outright broken pledges, promises or manifestos without any punishment (well, maybe Clegg who had his comeuppance when he lost his seat ).
Keeping this on a EU theme, let’s start wil Blair and his promises of a referendum https://www.channel4.com/news/articl...um/558277.html
Ironically, back then UK voters (as in the % people who do vote, not the public as a whole) were probably more pro EU or likely to side with poltical advice.
Furthermore I think this needs to go a hell of a lot deep than our own politicians...an inquest into the whole affair on what exactly was planned for the EU project back in 70’s, what was voted for and what transpired ought to be conducted...
Its fair to say that UK membership based on the 1975 referendum on whether or not to remain in what was then the European Economic Community (the EEC) was pitched to the British people as a “Common Market”. Although some warned at the time of movement towards a much larger political project, but was dismissed as untrue...clearly those that dismissed this were either very mistaken or making outright lies.
Also the ligitimacy and even the overall legality of amending previously ratified treaties to push forward on already failed/rejected treaties should be tested in court both in UK and worldwide courts.

Perfect 414 seat Brexit Party

Analysis of a vote that had 37% turnout, not a GE election, ergo, not relevant!
Despite what Brexit means to Brexiteers and Remainers alike, most will vote Conv or Labour because they always have, what remains is not enough to put some ***** like Brexit into any position of power.
I really don't understand how anyone can be stupid enough to believe anything Farage says, he's clearly a manipulator of the highest order and is out for nothing but lining his own pockets because he sees the EU as blocking that with regulation. He paints himself as a man of the people, he couldn't be further away from those people!

People feel thoroughly disenfranchised from the two now defunct parties. Brexit Party offers a course of redress

don't get your hopes up too much. That figure is based on the European election result with the pitiful 37% turnout.

Wasn't this sort of guff exactly what we heard after the last EU elections 4 years ago when UKIP got 29% of the vote and were going to storm the next GE?
Deluded as ever....

36.7% turnout One of the few occasions I hate being right!
Although I do believe there is a difference between bothering to vote and refusing to vote. I dare say half of that 66.3% refused on the basis they are sick of politicians in general as well of Westminster-centric ideologies, which I’m inclined to agree...Change UK vs Brexit party results could be reflective of this...both are new yet one gained significantly whilst the other performed poorly.

Not caught up with the rest of the thread yet but I'm sure this will be mentioned; the cumulative votes seem to suggest more people voting to remain...

Now labour are supporting a second referendum I agree...and once Corbyn is ousted they can blame him for being pro-Brexit and then they will clean up with a centralist left leader.
