Hi,

I was always a 'petrol brands are all the same (including supermarket)' type of person (before the scooby). In the good ole Clio the petrol supplier made no odds (car did so many mpg, who cared?)... but things have changed.

I always filled up at Tesco but recently started using a local Texaco garage (standard UL in MY01 WRX) and there's been a 2-3mpg drop. 'Not much!' I hear you say - but that's 10%!!

As an experiment I have used Shell standard UL the last few tanks and the mpg is back up to around 26. Pick-up is a little smoother (but still a dog when you very first give it therapy - then is fine for the rest of the journey). Generally I can't be bothered to go to Tesco any more (endless queues, diesel spillages, etc.), so the Shell thing's okay.

I'm looking forward to Phase 2 - the Optimax project!
