Thumbs up

This is for all the non-believers out there johnfelstead, puff etc

I have now seen in the flesh the vehicle I am buying and can confirm the following:-

The differences between my car and a std Sti v7 are as follows
(std Sti v7 parked next to mine @ dealers):-

Black Leather Seats and door trim
Vdo Dayton Sat nav/dvd/tv tuner combo ms6000
Vdo dayton speakers/tweeters
Alloy gear ****
Carpet front/boot mats
6 Disc cd/dvd changer
Rear Twin cup holder
Stainless Steel entry guards
Front Strut Brace - Aluminium
Rear Strut Brace - Aluminium
Braided brake hoses
Enhanced air flow in-take
Exhaust system changed ending in oval tailpipe (no brand name) centre cat is different shape.
Silicone hoses turbo/coolant/ancillary.
Intercooler/turbo piping different shape (smoother flowing?)
Radiator Cap Sti Branded
Quickshift
Clear front/side Indicators
Dealer stated 300 bhp 384nm torque (3 year warranty)
Rubber door protection side strips
Debadged only has wrx on back ( still see the sti through the frnt scoop though)
Has a better stance than std Sti ie slightly lower more squat.

You can say what you like people but the car is there I am collecting it on the 8th June the UK dealer is giving me their full support. They have been fantastic all the way through, it’s been a pleasure to buy it and hopefully a pleasure to drive it.

I’m sorry if some of you thought it was a wind up or hoax but if you look at the dates of my original posts “What have I bought” I think you’ll find it was quite a way before the S202 or the Sti Ltd were widely known. Anyway I’ll enjoy my car knowing that my car IS just that bit different to the norm.

See ya Hawkeye

Sounds very nice, a Ltd with extras!

Be careful with the fuel you run it on. Anthing lower than 100RON will probably give it a belly ache.

Wink

I take it that its the STI ltd 30th anniversary edition then??

Tony

The new STI Limited's revised engine features improved maximum torque to 283 lbft (384 N-m), sharper throttle response whilst still retaining the STI's blistering top end performance. STI have achieved this with a new advanced ECU, STI performance exhaust, improved inlet efficiency, revised inlet cam profile and a larger air filter. now avail from Litchfield imports

is ian lit a IM apointed franchised dealer?

You may have a 3 year waranty, but it wont be an IM Subaru UK waranty. You can buy 3 year waranties on any Import.

I didnt say the car wasnt going to exist, i said it wont be an oficial IM Subaru UK backed car.

I would love for you to prove me wrong by showing us the dealer invoice.

Johnfelstead,
I can guarantee IT isn't from Lit imports, it is from a UK dealer. I have discussed the vehicle and the comments from people on Scoobynet with both the Salesman and the owner of the company. Both agree that they wold rather keep a low profile mainly for 2 reasons.

1. Many Scooby owners are passionate some border on the obsessive, they cannot get another one like this and therefore it would be pointless to field dozens of enquires regarding it.

2. They fear there may be a backlash from people regarding their position regarding the car.

I will guarantee you pictures of the vehicle as soon as I get it.

As they have been so good to me with loan cars while it was delayed and excellant customer service, I feel honour bound to their wishes.

The 8th isn't that far away.

The spec you have describe sounds like they have taken a new STI and added some after market bolt ons. Not such a bad thing as long as they are doing you a good price. A lot dealers do this to shift cars, the only problem is when it comes to insurance as it been modified so you need to know what has been added and what is standard. In other words the list you gave in you first post will be the list you need to tell the insurance. Lets face it not many stay standard and it looks like you are further down the road before you start.

Just be careful over BHP claims as you tell the insurance it has 300bhp becuse the dealer thinks it must have it may end up costing you money but in reality it may only have 280bhp. I know it doesnt sound a great deal but a lot insurance accept upto 10% power hike no problem but you would be telling them it has gone from 261 to 300 which is about 15% hike.

Red face

So are you saying you will NEVER disclose which dealer suplied this car? Should be interesting come waranty claim time if IM are expected to foot the bill.

I think the stance taken about naming the dealer is silly. They are not going to get swamped. They wish!!!!! Imagine the number of STi Type UK deals they could take based on the enquiries! No saleman worth his salt is going to turn down even a sniff of a sale, i dont buy that reason.

Looking forward to the pictures.

Chrisp, points taken I have told the insurance company (privelege) they want £1095 to insure it fully comp protected, 34 years old 6 years no claims.

Deep Singh just over £29,000.

Johnfelstead my point is the dealer is wanting to use this vehicle as a potential benchmark for further Sti'swhich they sell it's up to them how they market them. If they don't want me goind round telling everyone where I got it from them as far as i'm concerned that's fine. They have I feel done me a very good deal on a very good car. Part of the deal is that I take it to them for warranty & service items.

Pictures to follow: on 8 days now!!!

Hawkeye, it sounds to me like your dealer is supporting you rather than IM? I do wonder what IM would make of this, as it sounds like this is a special edition that they've imported directly from outside of the EU. Is this your understanding?

I'm not sh1tstirring - I run the importingimprezas mail list and am genuinely intrigued!

Gibsons of Brock used to be a subaru dealer that dropped their franchise to do imports, so it's been done before.

Did you insure it as a UK spec STI Type UK?

This could be very, very good news depending upon where the car's from as it could be a precedent for all sorts of things. Drop me a mail and let me know in confidence if you prefer - if you don't want it going any further tell me and that'll do.

Nick.

Hawkeye,

Are you near Leeds at all? Wouldn't mind seeing it in the flesh so to speak on the 8th.

Would be a potential buyer in the near future as well.

now I find this a bit strange.

Sounds like a great car.

But (there's always a but!) surely a dealer wants as many prospective buyers as possible - OK yours may be a one off but get the people on the phone in the showroom and try to SELL them another car.

Just my 2penneth. I'll go back to sleep now.

There's an easy wind-up of Adam on the cards here, but it's not worth it.

I don't think it's elitism at all mate, and the reasons stated are genuine IMHO!

theres no such thing as an easy wind up of me!

I know what you are thinking but it wont work.

you can call me elitist, if you think it applies, I know I am not.

I am superior though!

Adam,
(Was it your car feature in banzai a while ago. White sti 4?)

If so nice car.

Scatch the above realised I was wrong. No doubt still a nice car though. I had it in my mind he was part of the 'gathering of the gods' at banzai. 'Being superior et all'

Adam, you miss the point: I don't think Hawkeye's on an elistist trip at all. It's all a little delicate for reasons that have come out in this thread time and again...

sorry I must have missed something.

Fact is I cant back down from my previous position that fuglies are fugly.

Unfortunately I am beginnign to like them.

Would appreciate seeing these pics too!

btw. did you have a choice on the sat nav?

VDO is the industry standard but being cd based, it is slowly going out of date.
