I think matt is just a fake materialistic wannabe who feels he is cut from a finer cloth from the rest of us. He is always trying to sell how great his life is with links to wealth and what he believes to be the finer things in life which can be seen in his posts.
In actual fact he has no personality, he simply aspires to be one of the "made in Chelsea" lot.

He does cast out a fishing line with a pretty big hook.

Simple things for simple people I guess.

I'm useless at fishing. Never catch a thing.

Modern games allow for a stronger story than times past, but it doesn't always come at the expense of gameplay.

I disagree. I think he's just a bit weird

On the other hand, who or what are you trying to be Chris?

Not always but very often!

I appreciate that "gameplay" is sometimes a hard thing to quantify, I found the fairly recent Heavy Rain thoroughly enjoyable even though that is mostly story based. I'm sure we all remember Myst and Blade Runner fondly too though, these things have been around for years.

I pretty much hate games on tablet and smartphone but Peggle and Angry Birds are absolute masterpieces of pick up and play. This is really the area I think we've seen "gaming" develop recently.

I could mention the legions of dross platforming clones that we had 15-20 years ago and point out that generally terrible games are not released these days, but I truly believe we're out of the age of innovation and the only things that we'll see improve are the graphics, at the expense of that connection between player and game.

Bang on, though I was more of a fan of the slightly simpler first game in multiplayer - but in much the same way it was fast, brutal and frantic. And a very steep learning curve! I was a huge fan of Counterstrike / UT for years too and was disappointed when people started chasing the CoD and Crysis experiences.

Goldeneye / Perfect Dark were similar in the old days on console, not quite as quick but very good fun. It wasn't until the Halo games came out that I think consoles caught up there. Halo 3 multiplayer is just awesome.

Lots of things can be compared. FIFA is a good one, but is it better than say Sensible Soccer? I'd argue not - all that "realism" takes away a little bit of the fun factor.

Your friend only you seem to show a negative response to my post

I'm bored with nothing better to do and unfortunately have been led to believe he judges cars people etc and in this case hobbies by money and the class in which such hobby/cars are represented.
If the gaming community was not represented by the working class and was more of a posh mans past time this thread would be very different IMO of course.

Chris, why does it bother you? Why do you keep following my posts and chipping in?
You don't like me - fair enough and you'll have to join a long virtual queue. It doesn't matter.
I'm not in the slightest bit "posh" (going to a private school for three years does not count), nor is my family. My parents and sisters are utterly skint, my inlaws aren't but they're properly Cornish and as posh as Asda. We plan to put our kids through state schools, we're comfortable but way way off wealthy - but it really DOES NOT MATTER.

There's some truly wealthy people on here but they don't seem to bother you. I can only dream of some of the cars (ahem GT3!) on here; yes we have a nice pair of motors but that's our thing - we hate houses dullness so don't plough all our (limited) cash into homes.

Yes we're slightly different - we prioritise having a laugh, doing active stuff, being with the kids more than most but please don't bother worrying about it.

I know plenty of better runners, surfers, triathletes, business people, etc, etc - I don't think "grrrrr, I'll harass them" I just think "good on you" (then hope they have a flaw somewhere).

Come on Chris, you're an adult and so am I - just chill and concentrate on stuff you DO like.

Hmmm - that new Elite game looks good...

There was no need to explain yourself as you have. I do feel that you like your finer things but if I'm honest I've not got a clue who you are.
I'm just pulling your chain, after a few responses recently from you i just felt like getting my own back and was being judgemental as you seemed to be towards gamers.

If you remember you said i was a troll and all manner of others things because i suggested a Mondeo was a better buy than a 318d. snob

Just because I live in my Auntie's basement and choose to play world of warcraft for 96 hours a week, it doesn't mean I do not lead a perfectly fulfilling life.
Work and outdoor activities aren't for everyone. Sure maybe one day I would like a job, but at the minute. Between playing games and chronically masturbating 10 times a day. I just don't have the time at the minute.

Joking aside though if you have low expectations out of life, living in a fantasy land of videogaming bliss must be hugely rewarding.

I actually preferred Kick Off 2 to sensible soccer, it played faster and had some nice little glitches you could exploit, actually played in a KO2 league on the Amiga and ST. Never liked FIFA, the isometric side on view didn't do anything to me.

Goldeneye was the best FPS console game by far for multiplayer and Mario Kart on the N64 was it's greatest incarnation (bar the graphics).

Q2 was brutal to people (like me) who were average skill level, the top players were amazing.

Perfectly put, now this is the guy I was talking about.

I like how this thread is turning to reminiscing about old games I spent a good few hours playing Doom on my 486 20yrs ago, used to love when you ran out of ammo and you would just see a hand in front of you.

Got quite addicted to doing Nurburgring on R Factor a few years ago too.

As for the rest of it I haven't got a clue, anyone remember Space Invaders and the one where it literally rained space ships zig zagging across the screen in colour or the submarine game where you go through under water caves, now that lot was the golden age of gaming.

Oh and lets not forget Pac Man.

There is no issue with playing games on a PC/Console/Phone/Tablet etc, some people find it relaxing and a way to escape from the hassle of normal lives, some do it because its fun, some do it because they can interact with other people and not be singled out for being different.

Myself, I do it for the hell of it
I enjoy playing WoT or for the moment, Dragonage Inquisition, in between all that I visit friends and work as a volunteer for the Army Cadet Force as an Instructor, which for the last year has been fun but hard work.
I also like doing a bit of photography, not as much as I should but still... roll on New Years eve and see how many dodgy pictures I can get at the party im going to
I will also not try to do what my mate did a few weeks back whilst out taking photo's (fib/fib spiral fracture and dislocated ankle ) as that is bad for your health

If you can find a balance between everything then do it, just dont become obsessed

I love playing games.

I was of the privileged age that grew up with the Sinclair machines, seeing all the console releases up to present day. I've always been a nut over my gaming.

I have most gaming consoles from the NES to present day, and literally 100's (probably 1000's tbh) of games. I also have arcade machines in one of my gaming rooms.

Like I said.... I'm a proper gaming nut.

Shock horror!
