Well yes, that does seem to be the conventional wisdom, however here is the article http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/poli...t-to-Ukip.html

The question would then be, who steps up? Boris, May, Osbourne?

I see Cameron is making yet more promises he cannot keep about EU migration, but now we have to vote him in again before he will go to the EU and negotiate us a new deal which if course he won't. How do people not see through this charlatan?

I agree this just pandering to a misconception about migration. We deserve better than this ridiculous debate

This whole debate beggars belief

For exactly the same reason people like Warren lap up every word Nigel Farage says. It's because they like to believe their politician of choice has all the answers to all the problems.

But Farage is saying what he believes is right for the country, Cameron is just saying what he thinks he needs to say to remain as PM. Self serving and nothing more.

You reckon? I really don't see where all this optimism about UKIP/Farage comes from, they're a complete unknown quantity with no reason to believe they are anymore honest than the rest.

If anything they should be treated with a similar level of cynicism purely on the basis that politicians as a career group have a tendency to say what evers necessary to win a vote...

The difference between UKIP and the others (referring to LibLabCon here) is they come across like they actually give a **** and genuinely want what's best for the country, rather than just wanting to stay in their jobs.

Getting out of the failed EU project is clearly paramount to the success of the UK moving forward, and UKIP are after all the only party who will pull us out of that failed project.

f1_fan is absolutely right that Cameron just says exactly what he thinks people want to hear. He's just all talk. Ironically when he comes out all strong stating he'll get immigration under control or reform Human Rights laws the EU just slap him down and say "no you won't".

The country is paying billions for an extra layer of government by being in the EU. We need less government, not more.

I quite like Farage and UKIP, however could they actually form a credible government? I'm not so sure.

Exactly right, back in the day I was of the opinion Tony Blair was a genuine guy - unfortunately though he was leader of the Labour Party.

That's a matter of oppinion. I'm yet to see anything that would really show Farage is anything more than some bloke pandering to public oppinion in search of his next big break. Lets be honest, when was the last time he was seen talking about anything other than Europe/Immigration?

Also, i'd be intrigued to know by what definition the EU project has failed? It seems to be chugging along well enough from where i'mstood.

wow, the EU has just given a massive boost to UKIP and to the leave EU view.

I've always had the opinion that i dont know enough about the in's and out's of the membership (its not all about bold headlines) so stay as is, but even I'm having a hard time staying on the neutral line and not swaying to wards the leave.

Also find it rather 'well we didnt expect that' (add about 5 lorry loads of sarcasm), that france and germany get money back

I've got to be honest, it's a complete gift to UKIP. Farage couldn't have asked for much more.

I think it's a deal breaker for Cameron personally. If i he stands his ground and really plays hardball with the EU till they back down, he could come out of it well. If not then it's game over.

He can't really back down though, this is part of the agreement we signed up to by joining the EU - countries pay in a percentage of their GDP. The UK performed better, and some other members performed worse over given period, so they want extra from us as a result.

Ironically the UK has performed better than other EU countries party because we didn't join the euro and could control our own interest rates, so it's been a benefit to us by not being 'fully in' the EU. Moving forward we need to be FULLY out.
