Also, I thought Wiggins knee injury pretty much ruled him out of the tour due to lack of time to get fully fit.

Did anyone else see the two Lance Armstrong documentaries recently? There was one on C4 and one on BBC4 too. Very fascinating. I still can't make my mind up about him. Yes he cheated, but then whole tour appeared to be bent. I find myself fascinated by him and should think he is a plank for doing what he did to protect the lie. Can't help but think he was protecting the guy in charge of cycling a bit so sort of feel sorry for him too. The BBC4 one was a bit more objective and showed more of some the edited press conference footage in the C4 one. I also think stripping his titles was a mistake. They should immortalise him as having won as a cheat (like putting wet in brackets on tbe Top Gear lap times). He still won and the others were doping too. If the sport admits to it and moves on it is better than scapegoating the participants alone. Like Armstrong said, everyone got paid! Not just him. People will dope no matter what so what do you do? Personally I want to see a 7 second 100m sprint final. If they dope it's their body their risk. It's human nature in competition to get the upper hand right so maybe better to say right open season. Would save a lot of hours and money on testing I guess. Rightly or wrongly.

Just had to put that out there really.

Scuttles back under rock.

Fair play. He's not a threat to the GC so they probably let him.

The BBC4 storyville was very good.

Yes Armstrong cheated, as did a lot of others, but his relentless bullyboy tactics if anyone dare say anything against him was scarey. He tried to destroy people. Take away their livelyhoods, control them. There were a lot of racers who didn't dope.....they didn't earn any decent salaries or get massive sponsorship deals. He and other cheats took that away from them.

He is one of the best liars you will ever see.....and he's still trying to control things now.

As for the stage yesterday, more impressive was the 2nd group of cyclists working to make up some time, and get a French guy in yellow for bastille day. Astana might not have to work so hard for a few days.

I totally agree with this. The bullying was on another level but I can't help but think that it was, in part, to protect the bigger picture. Did the previous Cycling chief get any grief in the wake of it all? His info on the film showed him as not being in charge after 2005? I don't know much about it all you see hence the fascination with it all.

Armstrong is definitely someone I kind of want to dislike but still find it very hard to given that he did do a lot of good despite a lot of the fairytale being based on a lie. I can actually forgive the doping side of it, what I really didn't like was the skullduggery going on between "rival" teams (footage showing chit chat between race support cars). In many respects the sport helped make him untouchable at the time. He could not have done that alone.

Very interesting sport though and glad I've kind of picked up on it with some interest. Long way off lycra and a helmet though

Converstionsations between teams and cars is normal.

Lots of little deals going on in the peleton.

Quite a complex sport. Lots of unwritten rules.

Todays stage looks to be a good one.....bastille day, another French stage win? I reckon deals will be done to make sure it happens. Teams helping out to share stage win money?

You wouldn't bet against Nibali now!

Let's hope he's clean, he doesn't even appear to be breathing

That was an impressive show by Nibali, not as good as Froome last year mind. Richie Porte was really struggling even with 2 helpers, don't think he's going to be any cop this year.

Nibali has convicted dopers working in the team - so yes, he isn't doing it on just water and pasta.
