just a quick one ive got 225/45/17 can I put on (215/45/17 as a pair on same axel) or can mix with
225/45/17 any where

All FOUR tyres should be the same size, bud.

And yes, it's quite important.

Im only changing the width of tyre from 225 to 215 does this still matter I can understand

The diameter changes with width.

45 represents the ratio between height and width therefore wider tyre = greater diameter

The 40 and 45 is the percentage of the width. The a 215/45/17 will have a smaller side wall profile than a 225/45/17.

Why would you want to go for a smaller tyre anyway? I've just changed my tyres from 215 to 225.
