If you say those tyres are good for stretching ill take your word for it, as you have been in the dub scene and they all like this sort of thing!!!
Thanks mate!!!

Seen a few pics and quite like the stretch look, Also thinking about rubbing issues as I like the car low, and I dont track my car and very rare do I give it the beans around bends etc, more of a straight line blast!!
Have seen someone on here with 235/40/18 on rota grids and it looks quite good so might have to look whats available when I get some tyres??

Do you run coilovers or springs on yours??? As we fitted a 18x8.75 to a mates 04 WRX a few months ago and he didnt have to camber his rears, but he did roll the rear arches, also the car is lowered on springs and he has no rubbing issues!!

Yeah I was going to run camber bolts on the rear!! Not sure about arch rolling as there is nothing to roll on the widetrack arches, which is why I was thinking id be better off with the 225/40 tyres as rsdub was saying about a tyre with a curved top instead of a flat hard top like Pirelli's etc!!!.

Hi there
Personally I would run 245/40,with those wheels you will have at least some rim/alloy protection, with 225/40 wheels are stretched and alloys are exposed
I've run both like 225/40 or 245/40 and still would prefer to run 245/40
If you will go down the route of the 245/40 then I would suggest for sure camber bolts at rear and front, coilovers and raise at rear slightly ride height, this will cure rubbing at rear if you will have and I think you will have with 245/40
Second bit if you are thinking to run XXR 8.75 with low offset(ET20) then I would go as above with camber bolts, with higher offset ET38 you should be OK without, but for more adjustments I would add camber bolts

We are running on 8.75X18 ET20 to 245/35(I would go with higher profile like is it 245/40)
Here is the picture
About the coilovers, depends on budget,if you have budget go with best which you can afford like are KW or Bilstein
Many people prefer BC,Meister R or others,we running HSD HR which are firmer than BC(but this is very subjective, because we are running stiffer springs),but they're just awesome on the track or B-Roads,when you are pushing them
Really depends on the budget and then I would decide. With some chepaer variants yours drive can be spoiled with the harsh or hard springs and this is not the best for enjoying the car
I would suggest try before you buy coilovers,if you have friends which has have coilovers then ask them for drive

225,40,18 falken will stretch nice
you can fit wider but may incur issues with rubbing etc ,
juras wagon has had arch work before we fitted the 245s but as you said there aint much to do on the hawks as there is nothing to roll so camber bolts and allignment would be needed if you went down that route , it may still rub on hard cornering etc
a safe bet would be 235,40,18s

Wouldnt it be easyer/safer etc to just get wheels the right width for your tyres? All your doing is killing the handling, wearing tyres innefficiently (all the wear on one shoulder), and opening up the sidewall to more road debris abuse.
This stretch tyre shenanigans from the dub scene is best left in the dub scene where the cars are less dynamic anyway.
Dont want to come across as a hater, but ive seen several down right dangerous mods from pillocks chasing stance!

In a straight line at slow speeds maybe not.
Use the car anywhere near its limits and its a different story.
Its a shame as its only a matter of time (if this dub scene ****e continues) that a car will have to have OE sized tyres on it to pass an mot. Scuppering the plans of someone wanting 9's and 255's for the track.
Anyway, people can do what they want with theyre own car, and i shouldnt give a monkies so thats me out.

I understand where your coming from with the fact that having wide wheels and stretched tyres is not ideal for track driving, but my car is used to get me to work and back and the occasional car show, Very rare can you use the impreza's full ability with speed humps, speed camera's, police, other road users etc!!!

Legacy - How often do you drive your car anywhere near it's limits on the road? My car (when I'm in the UK) is driven daily and the wheel/tyre/suspension has never given me any problems, even with 3adults in the back.
Also, when it does get used in anger (on track) I use different wheels.
Nice looking set for the road, less expensive set for the track, simple

fair point y'all .... i hold my hands up that i was being a bit harsh. Made some sweeping statements that have no real footing other than personal opinion.
Kev, completely get your point! if theres a spare set of wheels for the times it needs to be function over form, then why not..... does look good too by the way! :-)
Personally it isnt for me, but people use theyre cars in very different ways.
