Default Track Day pads.

Hello, I am planning on taking my Turbo 2000 to a track day.

I currently have the 4 pot calipers with OEM Discs and Pads. Im hoping to upgrade these.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced Front Disc and Pad combination that will make my car more suitable for a couple of track days?

I cant decide between drilled or grooved discs.

Thanks in advance

Otis

Don't go for drilled discs as they will crack around the holes , go for grooved only.

We can offer you our grooved discs and carbonne Lorraine RC5+ pads for £199.50 plus £12.50 P&P , will transform the braking

Cheers Ian

Thanks Ian,

A local garage recommended some Ferodo DS2500 pads to me, how do the carbonne Lorraine RC5+ pads compare to these?

Also, do you have a contact number please?

My cousin tracks his car a lot and uses mintex m1144 ! He runs them daily also on standard plain discs. I did a track day with him at oulton recently as his pads were faultless , mine were shagged after 8-10 laps ...

The mintex are only £110 for my sti so should be a little cheaper for you I think ..

1144 will not cope with most track driving as its only a mild "fast road" pad at best..........
if you wanted to stay with Mintex then the 1155 would be a better bet

I know the 1155 are more track focused , but he's run these pads a few years in his edition 30 and has done loads of track days at oulton / spa / the ring ... And he pushes the car... He's never had a issue with them on track , and as I say his wife uses the car for work everyday.

Just from that perspective they seem a good buy. As a track pad only the 1155 is better

Well i'm as shocked as Alyn then , as I'd say the 1144's are more aimed at small hatchback such as a Saxo / 106 , it is not something I would ever recommend for a Subaru for track use , and especially doing track days , I'm amazed at what your saying he has done with them , as I would never expect that.

Yeah they're fitted to a mk5 edition 30 gti running 300bhp. Pretty lardy car ! Dsg too so no really engine breaking. They're run on a r32 brake setup. He rates them highly and I've been in the car on few passanger laps and they felt great even 2 up

The good performance of the 1144's is also just the opinion of Aparoon against the 1155's they obviously wont perform as well on track. That said im surprised also that they havnt given up

I accept that I'm not arguing ... I'm just having some input that might be useful ... They may be terrible on a subaru ... But he has used them a few years on lots of tack days on his car as rates then highly :-) ill say no more haha
