Default Current Brake Setup - Please Look

Wondering if people can post about how there Standard 4Pot Brembo Setup feels. Recently bought my car; and I've never been too happy with the brake feel. Only way I can explain is seems un-sharp, and progressive, and scared the **** out of me on one occasion felt like the car wasn't going to stop!

I've just put HEL Braided Hoses all Around with Dot4 Fluid and the brakes do feel stronger, they slow the car better but feel progressive still instead of 'whiplash harsh' but the pedal feels firm. Now all the newage scoobies I've driven did feel the same to memory. So I'm wondering whether there all the same? Aka - ****??? An by **** I mean; scarily don't work comparing to normal cars - Fiestas etc (considering there uprated Brembo 4Pots)

I had an Focus RS with front 4Pot Brembo, Brembo discs and Ferrodo pads an that thing stopped!! So I find myself comparing against that and comin up unhappy!

The only thing I can think of now is New Discs and pads as the current ones have seen better days; but will this really solve my problem?

Don't think the Impreza has servo assisted brakes for better pedal feel.
I drive a multitude of work vehicles and they are on or off, being extremely sharp!

Even though the Impreza pedal isn't as sharp, I can actually decide how much braking force I require when pushing on!! Rather than having the ABS kicking in like on the hacks I drive!!

Not sure this is the answer, just my opinion..

Performance friction disc and Z rated pads is what you need.I had your problem with just a TSL333 remap, but I was advised by my mate in the USA about PF disc and pads and they have been superb.the standard brembo caliper is very good with the right hardware.SJ.

I don't think it's the pedal feel, that seems fine. Jus the whole braking experience seems dull. I would prefer a sharp 'on' or 'off' feel. At the moment it seems like I have to apply pressure to the pedal to determine the force.. I know that seems fine but its not good enough. I can put my foot hard on the pedal to emergency stop an it just progressively slows it doesn't slam on? Does this have ABS too as they lock up slightly

I've found, on both the Newage STis I've had, that the brakes really didn't impress me at all. Even my step-son's old 'R' reg Renault Migraine (yes, I do know what I've just typed, and it's an accurate summing up of the rest of the car!) had better brakes.

They're certainly on my list of important modifications before I even think about more BHP.

So I'm not going mental and I am right them. These standard brake are crap?

Just doesn't seem right tho, that there 4 pot Brembos an they are less effective than normal cars like corsa's brakes etc =/

So from ppl's Experience my brakes are fine as far as STi's go?

I've been out today in my friends 350z he's got the same setup but smaller front calipers and his is amazing.. It's what I want sharp 'on' 'off'
Just seems weird that the Scooby's are not like this!!

I could've written that original post Ryan, I've just done exactly the same last week, new HEL lines & new fluid & bled. Yes they feel only marginally better but still not impressed and the girlfriend hates them, our 3 series feels better.
We've had both a 350z and a DC5 both with Brembos & both felt so much better & when I had my lines changed on the DC5 it was like night n day.
My next step I've decided is to change the pads and decided to go for Godspeed kevlar pads to see if there's an improvement.
The discs and pads where only changed on mine just before I bought the car about a year ago & I don't know what he used

Yeah, tbh I thought mine would have been a clear as night and day with HEL Hoses and fresh race fluid! I dont even think the fluid has been changed since new, so I was eager to see the difference! But as you stated, its only marginal at best!

Ive been in a Ford Fiesta this morning, and im a little settled now, after braking hard in that the fiesta has the initial bite, but then fades, where as my Scoob has no initial bite but then gets stronger until it eventually locks the wheels!

This has now made my mind up that I need new discs and pads, because there is no initial bite!

What's the best Discs and Pads -

Discs

- Brembo
- PF
- BlackDiamond

Pads

- Brembo
- Ferodo
- PF

Any help, appreciated. Thanks
