Default Abit of a brake caliper dilemma

I have abit of a problem.

My front calipers were sticking on my impreza, 4 pot 2006 plate wrx. So i ordered a genuine seal kit off ebay, £30. I've now stripped them all down which has all gone fine but the actual calipers will need some kind of paintwork/powder coat doing to them and also a few of the pistons have some slight pitting on the sides of them and also most of the pistons have some rust on the tops of them where the dust seal goes.

Now i'm thinking do i carry on with these calipers and buy some new pistons and get them powdercoated/painted or do i just buy some reconditioned ones??

I can't use the sti brembos as they wont fit with the godspeed 335mm kit i have on it.

What would you do?

I refurbed mine and used standard pistons, my thinking was that if they lasted 10 years ten the new ones will do the same again and should they need done again, ill just replace the entire calluper for a new one as they are cheap these days.

I was thinking the same to regarding the pistons, if i were to carry on with them then i'd just get the normal ones as i'm sure they will be ok.

What did you guys do for painting them? Did you paint or powder coat?

Good old hammerite, best painting them while apart as it is easier, cleaner looking. Remember not to paint any mating surfaces though.

Better than Hammerite? LOL

Anyway, while they are off, invest in some stainless pistons from Ian at Godspeed, then you'll be sure it won't happen again.

Meanwhile, clean 'em up and paint with two good coats of Hammerite smooth, brush painting is easy and leaves no brush marks. I did some Brembo rears from gold to red like that, just threaded some wire through a bolt ole whose top would be covered when fitted, in order to hang them up.

Yeah ive bought some hammerite smooth red spray so will use that and mask up the piston holes.

Theres only 3 pistons that need replacing, the others are ok so i'm just going to replace them 3 to keep the costs down. One thing i havent got is the O rings that go between the 2 caliper halfs, not sure where to buy them from.

Godspeed? AS Performance?

Only changing three pistons will be a false saving, the others will go....

Ian started making stainless ones BECAUSE this was a fault.
