Default What brakes should i use !!

Hi I have just bought my first Subaru and it is a 2003 Uk STI that needs some TLC,

First thing on my agenda is the brakes, there is serious wheel wobble and car judder under braking which I am guessing is warped discs.

So I am going to replace all pads and discs and want some advice on what to use !

The price for new part quoted me from Subaru was quite shocking looking at the price of other makers products out there.

I am only going to use the car for road use

even with road use it depends a lot on how hard you are on the brakes.........

lots of people get away with a factory quality pad/disc set-up and these are very reasonable in comparison to Subaru OE and will work exactly the same (the parts we source anyhows, be aware that not all OEM are the same spec) - a car set can be as little as £285inc. discs & pads

after that your into the likes of Brembo HPsport, PFC, Pagid competition, etc...

Sorry for the hijack! I'm having exactly the same problem, the blob STI I've just bought has standard front disks and ebc red stuff pads on the front, the disks were skimmed just before I bought the car to cure what the owner thought was warped disks, any how I've just been for a spirited drive and the brakes are terrible once hot the judder like hell and the bite is terrible I was having to stand on the peddle at times to slow it down.

What would be a good disk pad combo on the front for occasional fast road use?

I'm not sure if I just don't get on with the red stuff pads as sometimes when cold and just turning into my street the bite hard and the abs kicks in doing around 10mph lol.

Cheers

Mick

Depends on budget but a nice set up for the brembo calipers is the performance friction disc and Z rated pads proven on fast road and occasional track time.SJ.

Best place to buy these fella? Didn't want to go crazy price wise but I suppose the brakes are fairly important

It seems it's always what people want when they buy subarus more power!!! which is just half of the story, but never scrimp on brakes as they say power is nothing without control.A good brake set up will make you a more controlled and quicker driver.SJ.
