Kwikfit have just offered me Bridgestone S04s in 205/45R17 (as fitted to P1).
Anyone ever heard of these?
I'm tempted by Scoobyworld's offer of T1-S's at silly money, but where will fit 'em?

I heard ages ago that the S04 was to replace the S02!
If this is the case then get em! S02's were the best you could buy....
The S03 is the most recent I knew Bridgestone was selling....
Let us know!

Chiark,
You are ahead of the times as usual
But they may be using you to test out the new model
Let us know how you go. And even if you "only" get S-03PPs, I think you'll like them coz they are a lot quieter than most in that class.
Enjoy!

Problem was that they were 160 quid each. I'm not feeling like being a guinea pig for that sort of money when Scoobyworld has such a stonking offer on toyos...
Can't find any reference to 'em, other than one site that shows 'em fitted to a tricked out evo. Nothing on Bridgestone's site at all.
Strange.

Nope, all I know is that Kwikfit on the Kirkstall Lane in Leeds said that they could have them in 3 days.
I too trawled the web and found one useful reference...
...but no pics.

I went to the toyo website and used the dealer finder . Then all I did after that was ring round the ones in the area to see who would give me the best quote. I found a really good outfit close by.
Hope that helps on the Toyo front.
I was very interested by the SO4 news.

Hello
I just rang Elite at Rainham and they had not even heard of SO4's. He even put me on hold while he rang Bridgestone to check. They told him they dont exist, SO3's being their new release.
However, about a month ago, spurred on by the rumours of SO4's flying about, I rang Bridgestone. Although the technical department had no info, the chap I spoke to said he did recall the "marketing department" having some involment with SO4 material.
I would really like to know what is really going on. My SO2's dont have to much life left in them and I really want tires at least as good as them. I definately don't want SO3's, and am desperately holding out for SO4's.
I posted a thread ages ago, a local tyre monkey at a tyre/exhaust outfit claimed they should be out around March/April. Obviously that has not materialised, but he said they were to be fitted to new TVR's.
It would be good if we could get to the end of this (before my existing tyres wear out )
Cheers

No, they really were S04s as I did check that they weren't going mad. "Available in 3 days" is all that I was told.
This is kwikfit though.
It came from their computer thingy - perhaps someone else could try a different branch?

yhe chod, AFAIK the SO2 PP added a silica compound to improve wet weather performance (maybe a little simplistic, but that's me )
Both SO2 and SO2 PPs are very rare by now.
I went from SO2 PPs to Eagle F1 GS-D2.
