Goodyear Eagle F1 or Toyo Proxys T1-S?
#1
I know, I know... this has probably been done a million times before...
Looking to get some new tyres and have narrowed it down to the Goodyear F1 or Toyo T1-S. I'm looking for a tyre that has a good life expectancy (not a hard driver and a fair bit of A road and M-Way), low road noise, minimal tramlining and an improvement in wet/damp grip on the RE010's that it currently has. This is for 205x50R16 (standard MY99 wheels).
Anyone want to comment? TN can get them both for the same price, so the only deciding factor is whether they can meet my requirements.
If there's a thread that has all this one, can you point me to it?
Cheers

I changed the RE010's for Toyo's 6 weeks ago. Much better dry grip, turn in is much better, no tramling and have loads of grip in the wet. I paid £71 + VAT, bargin.
A mate of mine just put them on an EVO6 he loves them to.
Cheers,
Leigh

How long can expect them to last? I need something that will give me good milage. Is one better than the other in this respect?
Cheers for your comments as this has confused me more as I was going to go for the Goodyears

Goodyears for me. No problems, good grip no tramlining etc etc.
Mainly because
1.My local tyre dealer referred to Toyos as a "budget tyre".
2.Goodyears are available from the National tyre firms, in case of an emergency.

More confusion now then...
I got F1s for about £70 each about 4/5 months ago. I reckon they'll last about 40% longer than the previous RE010s (about 20k for me, swapping fronts to backs at about 12k).
Definitely better than RE010s for lack of tramlining, and for better wet grip, and seem as good in the dry. But I've not tried Toyos...

I ran Toyo's for about 15k's worth of miles, and when they came off (today) they were seriously shot on the inside of each tyre I have gone for the new Goodyear F1 as my local dealer was doing a deal on them as they are brand new - in fact I was his first customer!

I've had both the Proxes T1-S and Eagle D2's both are excellent tyres, finsihed my proxes off at a track day at brands in march - found them very grippy but wore out quickly, the Eagles however whilst still grippy and good I don't think have as much grip on the outright 'edge' of performance, but thats my personal opinion, but are a slightly harder compound so will wear better....hope this helps!

19k on a set of Toyos
Wow, I got my car with 5mm of tread on my Toyos, that went within 3000 miles and 150 laps of brands turned them into slicks

Toyo's are the dogs
Had two sets now and would have them any day over P-Zero's, Goodyears and Yoko's - haven't tried bridgestones 'cos the Toyo's are ace, inspire confidence the others don't.

oh, and re: Toyo's being a 'budget' Tyre check this out...
In Europe Toyo has marketed itself as "one of the biggest tyre manufacturers you've never heard of". This is indeed a fair description as the company is the 9th largest tyre manufacturer in the world with tyres sales of $1.1 billion.
Toyo is Japanese manufacturer and operates with technology on a par with the major premium brands. In Europe, however, Toyo are not as well known and so the brand is marketed in the upper medium price category making the tyre good value for money.
Toyo do not have a manufacturing base in Europe, all tyres being exported from Japan.
I would have thought they would know what they are doing!
