I think someone was asking about these a while back. I've just had all four original Bridgestones RE010's replaced on my MY00 5 door at about 18,000 miles with about 3mm of tread left. I just couldn't stand the tramlining and noise any more.
The Goodyears are in a different league altogether. The tramlining has gone, they are significantly more refined, especially over potholes with none of the crashing from the Bridgestones. Also although I haven't pushed too hard, even at moderate speeds the turn in and response is also much sharper.
They cost £94 each from Bracknell Tyre and Battery and it's money well spent in my book.
Apparently the only difference from the GS-D2's is that the grooves now widen out more as they move out towards the edge of the tyre. Not sure what the affect of this is, perhaps it helps water dispersal?

18,000 miles on RE010's, bloody hell! Straight line driving then?

All corners were swapped off at ~8000 miles as they were awful.

I'm looking to replace the RE010 on mine as well and was concidering the F1s. What sort of milage could I expect from them? I don't drive very hard and do a fair bit of Mway driving.

What's the GS-D2 / D3 mean??

That's the sub-type. Looking at Goodyear's web site, there are various types of F1. I've got the previous model GS-D2.

chris,

How do you find them? (don't say they are on the wheels ). I need something that will give good life and be a good improvemnt on the RE010's (tyre noise, tramlining).

Cheers

Thumbs up for the GS-D2 so far. TSL fitted them for me - I sourced them from ProTyre when they were really cheap. My only tyre I've previously had on the Scooby is SO2 PPs (all in std 16" size).

I've done about 6.5k miles on them now, including 2500 for the Catalunya run. Possibly slightly less grippy in light damp conditions than the SO2s - I've felt the tail wag a little if you power hard of a roundabout. In the dry in the Spain on a x-country blast, my ability ran out before the tyres on mountain bends. Felt very stable through bends at 100+.

On decent (ie new) motorway / dual carriageway tarmac, very little noise IMO. If anything, you can hear the wind or zorst more.

I changed to GS-D2s after 10k on the original front RE010s and about 15 on the back RE010s. By swapping fronts and backs, it's looking like I'll get about 20k out of the new ones, whereas the RE010s would have averaged about 12k by doing the same.

So they seem to wear better as well as perform better...
