Question

Before i fit my new P1 calipers i want to paint them!

What paint do i use and where can i buy it. I am assuming its similar stuff to the type that you paint engine blocks with - ie heat resistant. Halfords aint far so i was going to try that but need to know what i am looking for...

cheers

Halfords do a caliper paint, its in various colours but i cant remember the name of it! its usually with the steering wheels and carbon fibre looking sheets and it shows a painted caliper on the box, it should be around £20.

This is an interesting topic - I dont want to hijack it, but I have just cleaned my alloys with some powerful cleaner - and - its taken all the black paint off the caliper!!!! the white SUBARU is still clear!!

What have I done????

I painted one of my calipers with the Foliatec paint from halfords. End result is brilliant but I'd definatly say take your time to prepare the brakes before attempting to paint.

Oh.. before you all ask why i only painted one, it's because i went round the other side and undid the bolts, only to bend the key when trying to remove the locking wheel nut Doh! Anyhow, £7 later and a trip to halfords for a new key sorted it, just need to get around to painting th other side now

Original is not black but a matt dark green. I painted my MY99 calipers with Humbrol black and green (mixed) to get the same shade a couple of years ago. Still looked great the day I traded it in Available from Hobbycraft or any model shop.
