Default Which Tyres please ???

Hi there, please could you give me your opinions on which tyres are the best for my classic 400bhp Impreza? I have been looking at Avon ZZ3's and Toyo proxes T1R's but there is so many different tyres to choose from!

I'm looking for a good all round tyre, one that can hold the road well in all weather and corners. I have been told that the Avon ZZ3's are a harder tyre therefore do not grip as well but last longer where as the Toyo T1R's seem to wear quickly especially on the shoulders and apparently the sidewalls are not up to much!?

And, then there are bridgestones, falkens etc. etc. I'm pulling my hair out! Please help! All opinions will be greatly appreciated, the more the better!

Thanks so much folks!!!

Hi mate, not sure what tyre size you need or what your budget is but I'm running Falken Ziex 912 tyres on my 17" wheels and love them.

I did a LOT of reading up before deciding on them as I had directional tyres on before (avon zz3's) and they didnt perform in the wet.

I ran my Falkens at the Nurburgring in my 336bhp Classic this year and they performed superbly. Bought them from Camskill at a great price

based on the reviews I read here

Do you know if the Falken 912 is better or worse than the Falken 452?

I got 24k out of a set of T1R's with tread left when i sold it (313/300 Classic) Loved the tyres.
Good luck in finding some though as the EU tossers have put an end to their production due to the V groove pattern and the road noise associated with it

I've got 215/40 Falken 912's on at the moment and can't fault them, they haven't worn excessively and grip well in all weather conditions

I was shocked at how quiet the road noise is with these on too, not sure what the difference is between them and the 452's tho, let me check the reviews

I had the toyo's on a classic in this size and dont rate them they were good as 17's on my new age but they were tram lining in an 18 and would break away without much input.

I have the falken 452 now and went back to the 16's and i think its a better drive for it, and the falkens have been great in all weathers, apparently they regularly win the best all round tyre accolade at some fancy smancy tyre awards / test, but i think you need to speak to a pro or guys that run that size as i have discovered tyre performance does change depending on size of tyre and weight of vehicle.

My vote would be for Yokohama AD08. They seem very well suited to my Type R

Changing from T1R's made the difference between 'just not there', to making the car totally sorted

Very well worth the extra cost

452's are a much better tyre compared to the 912's

I use T1R's for road and track and they only ever really see hard use, i can't fault them, they work superb in the wet!!!

the 452s are a directional pattern with a higher speed rating , they are more fast road orientated than the 912s but both are brilliant tyres to drive on

I love my Falken 452s for road use and usually well priced.
I have heard good things about vreddestein sessantas tho and their tread pattern is sexy.

I fitted some cooper CS6's I am very happy with them..i tryed them because they got rave reviews compared to the usual suspects .. I can only compare them to the P7000's that were on when I got her... But they are very quiet and are better in the wet and dry..the mpg improved too....
