Default New Yoko AD08, old T1r's

Changed the (2K miles) T1R's today for new AD08's... 215/40/17. Hadn't been getting on with the T1R soft walls and squirmy underfoot character

Had the two side by side in the tyre bay and they were quite different tyres. Compared to the Yoko's, sidewalls felt super soft on the Toyo's, as did the main carcass

Other thing was the tyre width - see pic below

After fitting, we decided to give the new Yoko's some heat cycling so had a brisk tour of Shropshire...

In short - T1R's fair poorly in side by side off the wheel comparison... but are a huge world apart on fast B-Roads...

Perfect compliment to a well sorted chassis

They're a real world all round difference on the road from the T1R's. Biggest is vague uncertain turn-in has changed to exact opposite ...

I'm going to follow up on these brilliant tyres with some more posts, and unfortunately it is with T1R's I'm comparing, as these have just come off

I didn't come from any tyres, as I built the car up from a rolling bodyshell I bought.

I use the AD08's for track/sprint use, and have a set of 18's with T1R's on for everyday use.
As you say, they are worlds apart.

Type R has a 2005 newage engine complete with AVCs heads, twin scroll vf37 turbo set up, newage ECU.

Std 5 speed Dccd, Front Brembo's, BC coilovers for now.

Very nice indeed

I like the fact you still have the 5 speed. I've heard the 6 speed conversion loses the character of the Type R.

Was tempted to get the AD08's myself but going for another set of Parada's.

Whats the wet ratings like on the AD08's? Treads look like they will shift a little more water than the Paradas

My understanding was the Parada's were not so cleaver in damp/wet conditions.

Not sure what the wet ratings are

The AD08 seems very well suited to the Type R, and of the (not so many) others tried are the best tyres I have used

I'm on my 2nd set of AD08's, and I can't fault them wet or dry. I was going to try the Federal RSR track day tyres instead but couldn't find any anywhere.

What a tyre ...

Probably been out 10 times with this tyre now and the Yoko's are nothing short of brilliant. Brilliant doesn't come close to the feel these tyres. They allow you to easily explore the limits of your Scooby. They give immense amounts of grip and feedback combined with big confidence. Grip levels and braking capacity is quite devastating.

Today - November 15th, unusually mild, been dry for last few days...

120 miles of Shropshires's finest, yumpiest and tistiest 330 bhp Type R

The tyres don't seem to showing any signs of wear either. Usually I find my tyres start showing feathered edges and losing their shoulders almost immediately, butt hese have none of this. My mate who has been following progress and was at the fitting joked today - they hardly needed inflating - as the construction was so strong

I would recommend these tyres wholeheartedly for road use, again I say the AD08's suit the Impreza very well indeed

Good tyres is like good breaks. Mind you I'm a fine one to talk lmaoooo. Bought some partworn tyres. Lets just say tyre burst on the dual carrigeway. You can work out the rest.
