Default 19' by 8J on a classic?

After some help if possible from anyone in the know.

I have classic shape impreza (1998 UK turbo) I went and bought myself the wheels I really wanted which were some 19' Oz Superleggera's, now my classic is 5x100 pcd so the wheels will go on the hubs.

The wheels are 8J x19 ET45, im thinking with my standard suspension struts even if I fit some 215/35/19 it could still actually foul the struts, my question is would I be able to run some large spacers 10mm plus so it that it pushes the wheels further out so it would clear the struts?

I cant try this as ive only got the wheels with no tyres fitted, and at present im waiting for a trolley jack so I cant even offer the wheels up to see if I will have a problem or not?

I know its not good for the handling but I came across a picture when browsing www.scoobyphotos.com of a classic with 19' Oz Superleggera's and I really liked the look!

Any help is appreciated

I'd be interested in your findings too mate. I've got 17" superleggeras at the moment but want to sell them and go bigger.

Problem is, nice looking 18's are in limited supply so 19's might be an option for me too. I'm lowered on 30mm whiteline springs with standard shocks.

215's wont foul the struts afaik. My missus is running 225/40/18's on hers with an 8j wheel and coilovers a lot lower than mine so thats not an issue.

See this is what im thinking......coilovers are very slim so im assuming the wheel would not foul them, but it you look a a standard strut they are huge! which could cause the issue ive described.

Im hoping I wont need coilovers, problem is ive used the search function on here but havent really come up with any answers.

I run them on a Tein'd bugeye, had to modify the rear arches to clear 235/35/19's, with spacers on as well you are going to need stick-on arches.

Mine missed the std struts, just.

Well I managed to borrow a trolley jack so I quickly took off the existing front alloy wheel and offered up the 19's.

Now remember they have no tyres on yet. Good news is the 19's went on and didnt foul the struts, I have large AP racing brake calipers on the front and they clear these no problem.

The alloy with no tyre on clears the strut, im thinking that if I put a 215/35/19 tyre on it will give a very slight "stretched" look to the tyres and this im hoping will clear the strut but it looks like it going to be tight!

The 19's sit in line with the arch, they dont go out further.

Next up is to try one of the alloys on the rear to see if it looks like ill have any clearance there!
