Default wheel now!

The 2004 GX was either fitted with 15" wheels 195 15 60 or 16" wheels 205 16 50 all 5 stud 100 x pcp.
You can fit 17" wheels on a GX with 205 17 55 tyres with no clearance issues on the twin pot Tokico calipers. There are some clearance issues with the four pot Bremo calipers on certain wheels.
For stability and better steering feel the bigger the wheel the better, the problem being in the snow, with smaller clearance in the arches for snow packing in.
So the information may help, but it depends on what calipers you are running as to what fits.

Default et phone home

Not sure about the et 45
I fitted some 17"7J et55 prodrive wheels with 205 55 Dunlop wintersport tyres to my GX, no problems or issues, and great grip in the wet. But will have to downsize for the winter!
The 16" 7J standard rims with 205 45 Yokohama Cdrive tyres were a nightmare, rutting and potholes made the steering pretty horrible.

Default from Yokohama data page

http://www.yokohama.com.au/ourtyres/...rt_Cdrive.aspx

This gives you an equivalent OD for the wheel size and profile, work it against the standard fitment for speedo error!
